Spot on but it's a difficult environment to even announce good news at the minute.

| Sam is probably past his best, but he's a solid player who never stops working. In my opinion, his best position is hooker and if you bring him off the bench you should get a decent 30-40 minutes out of him per game. Served Wakefield well and wish him luck at Hull.

That's what I meant. We even had to offer 2 years to get Obst it seems.

Then it's not an issue as we have space anyway.

But with a 2 year deal, what if for next season we want to replace Moa and Lauaki as well as Fitzgibbon with Australian players who are available? Whoops, we can't, because we had to give Obst 2 years for him to come and dig us out of a hole short term.

Explain how please. If we were to still have Phelps and O'Meley next year as well as Obst, there's 3, so how could we replace Moa, Lauaki, and Fitzgibbon with 3 quota players?

OK, at least we now have someone to rotate with Houghton, but honestly, this is a sad indictment of the fact that our recruitment is now more about who we can get than who we want. 2 of the 3 signings we've made have been transfers from clubs with a pressing need for the money, anyone on the market with options went elsewhere. Back up for the halves was supposedly our priority and the closest we've got is a far from great 30-year-old bench hooker.'"
Well said. I can't believe all of the gushing praise for us signing a player who is anonymous 99% of the time. he reminds me of matt le tissier. Does something spectacular once every 4 or 5 games but nothing the rest of the time. Can't believe they've paid a transfer fee for him. Very poor planning IMO. We could have got a better player with no fee.
The only positive is it's another player in our paper thin squad. Shows how far we have fallen that people are lauding up the signing of sam obst

Phelps is only on a 1 year deal.

Possibly. I just don't think Obst is worth a quota spot that could potentially affect our recruitment options. We should be leaving the possibility to replace all of our outgoings with whoever possible, unless we were bringing in someone of real quality.
