You honestly think any prospective coach takes any notice of an internet forum before deciding if they want the job?

| William Hill have got to have had a sniff of something or they wouldent bother putting a bet that is of little interest to a national audience online. Theyd just run it in the Hull shops.
Hope it is Tony Smith! Id even pay more for my pass to pay for his compensation and id give him a lift here! It'd be such a massive lift

| I think radford is safe for now. Seems pearson is convinced it's a player/culture issue and that radford is the man to sort it. God knows why when radford gas been here for the last 8 years and club captain for a chunk of it. I can see wakey going above us in the next 4 or 5 games which would probably force pearson's hand

or on the other hand Pearson could be doing what Tottenham have done with Tim Sherwood, hire an explayer until someone better is available.

He won the world cup when Wayne Bennett was helping him out. I personally wonder how much each of them did, as NZ have not been as good since IMO. It's also a bit strange to say that the only blot on his CV is the only true coaching job he's had, and the one closest in scope to what we'd want him for. '"
I'm sure there used to be similar stories about John Kear's time at Hull that Kearney was effectively coaching the team and when he left they weren't the same....?
I would be wary of hailing Stephen Kearney (or McLennan in 2005) a coaching genius because of the World Cup win. Effectively it's one game. Pretty much anybody could coach NZ to beat the other teams apart from Australia. So then it comes down to who wins one game and on one game all sorts of factors of luck and form can come in that affect one result.
Really you judge a good coach on constant performance over a period of time especially if they do it in more than one club. Tony Smith is a good coach, so is John Kear. So was Shaun McRae for a while.
Personally I would be surprised if Hull got Tony Smith as coach unless they mean the other Tony Smith that played for Hull? But if you do get the Warrington Tony Smith then he does guarantee improvement and professionalism.
If I was at Hull I would be trying to get Brian Noble or even Steve McNamara, who is maligned a bit (as all England coaches are) but I think he's a decent coach, or Powell.

Pretty much how I see it (apart from the McNamara bit). Whilst there were rumours about Kear, he at least has a decent coaching record over his career to fall back upon. The thing with Kearney for me is that he's only had 2 coaching jobs, of which only one was what I would call a reliable indicator of his abilities, and he did a pretty awful job of it. I'm wary of the reputation he seems to be being given by some fans, as at this stage there's some evidence he's a good motivator but not a lot else.

Well we certainly need a good motivator at the moment.

With Kearney there were always positive stories coming out about him, both for his charisma as a leader in the dressing room as a player particularly towards the end of his career, and then as assistant coach at Melbourne. But his time in charge at Parra was absolute disaster, they were garbage.
I think the jury is out on him. He does come over as a very confident and assertive individual who is the type people will respect and look up to but something went wrong when he was head coach. Is it just that he is one of those who is good as a coach in a coaching unit but not as a head coach with all the management responsibilities? Or did he just have bad luck at Parra? I think he is worth another shot from someone as a head coach - I think Salford would have been worth taking a punt on him rather than Harris. I have always found him very impressive and liked him but not sure what the deal is with him as a head coach.

McNamara did a decent job at the World Cup with England IMO. For all the criticism before the tournament, the team played some good rugby and were drilled well. I think whoever gets the England job is going to be described as poop, John Kear was a national joke when England bombed out of the 2000 World Cup after he'd been sacked for being bottom of the table, but Hull took him as coach and I remember seeing some great rugby from Hull under Kear. Tony Smith was generally regarded as a failure after England's shocking 2008 World Cup and it seems some of your fans wouldn't mind him either?
If TS left Warrington then McNamara might not be top of my list but he would be on the list.

Again, I essentially agree. The jury is very much out on him, what I don't understand is why he seems to regularly crop up near the top of a fair few fans' wishlists. His record doesn't justify it IMO.
