Ignoring the trolls, our halfs haven't been good enough for much of the season. Horne was the pick of them (That Richard Horne who most have said wasn't good enough for the last 6 or so years). Holdsworth has been inconsistent at best (Although injuries have disrupted his season, he still has a tendancy to go missing in games IMO) and Miller is just a young kid who is talented but a long way from being a starting half for a team aspiring to challenge for honours.

Not convinced miller and holdsworth as a combination will be good enough next season

I've always thought Westerman to be overrated. Showed great potential as a youngster but seems too arrogant and unwilling to soothe hard stuff. Compare him to O'Loughlin and he's a long way off being a true star. Tickle's head went after the missed tackle for their try, and like so many was trying too hard. Shame cos he's been a good player for you.

Thought your full back was the best player on the pitch. He handled everything thrown at him and the only thing that went against him was when Charnley knocked the ball out. But to be fair, the kid looked knackered after all the work he'd done.

Shame the weather affected it so much, it could have been a good game. The fact Matty Smith got the Lance Todd shows how poor a game it was.

As a Leeds fan I can sympathise with your long journey back. And for the record, most of us were cheering you boys on

i thought the full team was poor in attack, the forwards never laid the platform for the halfbacks to do anything, allthough they did play poor you cant blame anyone person we didnt value possesion and got beat by a team that wasnt any better than us

The big difference between the two teams was the kicking game. Smith and Green kicked into space and along the floor. Holdsworth and Miller kicked direct to Wigan players and in the air making it easier for them to make yards.

You don't think our completion rate had a greater bearing on the result?

Yes that had a bearing but if you look at where you were starting your sets compared to Wigan this put more pressure on you and that contributed to the error rate..

We dropped plenty of ball in their half too. The kicking game was crap, but to say it was the 'big difference' between the teams misses the point by a distance. It's far more likely that a team will win a game with poor kicking but a high completion rate than the other way around.

Pretty much agree with this. Miller needs a full pre season before I'll judge him as he simply hasn't had any preparation to play at this level. Holdsworth got us to Wembley with a MOM performance against Wire in both attack/kicking and defence but he had a nightmare yesterday. Overall it isn't relevant to pick the halves out for specific criticism yesterday - there were 14 or 15 players that contributed to our poor play with the ball.

Wigan's completion rate was also way down on what it normally would be so that doesn't stack up. Smith won the Lance Todd because of his kicking game.

Of course it was down on what it would normally be - it plssed down for the full 80 minutes. They still controlled the ball much better than we did, which is ultimately how they won the game. Or rather, how we conspired to throw it away.

Matty Smith showed what a half back should be doing in wet conditions yesterday.
He was head and shoulders above the other halves because his kicking game was nigh on perfect for the conditions.

That was the biggest disappointment for me. Despite how poor we were we were still in the game with less than 10 mins to go. Unfortunately we got even worse in attack as the clock ticked down. When you eventually force a goal line drop out then fail to take the kick you know you've hot rock bottom.

I said at half time it was ours to lose, and we went on to do so.

Maybe too much pressure, I don't know. We didn't even look bothered at the final whistle.

Can't blame Gentle, only two players tried yesterday, we were just rubbish.

Agree with all of your post except the players being bothered. They rightly looked absolutely gutted that they had let themselves and the club down with such a poor performance.
