| Quote tommyfromhull="tommyfromhull"Huge scapegoat. He's the very least of our worries and I do think he had a better game yesterday. To think of getting rid of him is ridiculous, he captained the knights last season and people have called for him to be our future captain!'"
Who are these people? I haven't seen anything from him in terms of leadership, determination or passion. Things that every good captain needs. He looks like he just turns up on the day and goes through the motions to me.

As for going through the motions, I disagree.

I'm surprised you feel this way tbh, I'm always seeing him bark out orders and talking just as much as Lynch. And if others showed as much determination and passion as him (Manu, Turner etc.) we wouldn't be capitulating at the thought of a few injuries like we are.

| Can't believe how some of us Hull fans are so fickle, yes we are looking for a scapegoat and Westerman seem's to be the prime choice but remember the lad is still only 22 and is best year's are still ahead of him, hopefully imo in a Hull fc shirt.

| He's been steady IMO but for the money we spent people (inc myself) have maybe expected more.

| I think that Westerman is a talented player but has had a poor-to-average season so far. Personally, I'd play him out wide as I think that we've seen his best performances when he's been playing on the edges, and this would allow Whiting to play at 13 (and Whiting in the smarter player).
I don't know why people say that Westerman doesn't show any Leadership qualities, I've regularly seen him barking out orders or having a word with the guys when we're in a group under the sticks after conceding.
For the rest of this season I think that we should move Westerman out wide to Tickle's spot and then have Whiting at 13. For next season, I'd have Ellis on the left, Whiting on the middle, and then either Tickle (if he stays) or Westerman playing on the right depending on how they're performing.

| Typical story of a transfer fee weighing heavy around his neck, if we'd signed him when OOC I seriously doubt people would be picking him out. Was excellent at times last season. Certainly in a different class to Pitts IMO, who is seeing nothing like the same level of criticism.

Pitts won't be on anything like the money Westerman is on, hence expectations of Westerman are much higher.

| He has played well in the past for us without doubt. It seems to me that to become a really good player he has to improve his consistency. I don't think he reaches the level he is capable of consistently enough. The likes of Sinfield/Westwood/O'Loughlin reach a high standard week in and week out. If Westerman wants to be a top player he has to get to a consistently high level of performance. He's nowhere near that yet.

Which is stupid. The fact he is on more money does not mean he can carry the team. We have a combination of missing and average players holding the team back, which also makes it harder for good players to produce the goods. His form last year leads me to be inclined to give him more time. I think he and Seymour are similar stories, with better players around them we may see more from them, as at the minute they are suffering from trying too hard.
