That could well be it.
I'm not overwhelmed with the signing, but I do feel better knowing the squad has another experienced backrower.
As others have said, he is still young enough to improve into a good SL player.

| I always thought of him as steady not spectacular but not seen him play for a while so lets see what he's got.
Another player with a point to prove and try and earn another contract, I like that a lot.

| If we've got him on a low wage than it is a good deal, he will offer squad cover, while at the same time he will know that he has to impress or he will struggle to get another SL club.

That's how I see it.
Three signings in a row that are a little uninspiring though.

For me, the least uninspiring. It's always good to see another Hull lad in the team, he's young and he's got a hell of a lot to prove. I was watching the Quins home game yesterday and thought he did well from what I saw. He's going to be back up and if he doesn't progress, I have every faith in Gentle to play the younger players.

| pleased we have give him another year he went out to quinns to play and improve himself ,we will see if it worked ,i think we should do it more often lending players out to gain SL exsperience or championship, thats the real problem with the rugby in this country our 2nd grade comp is very poor and not the step required to play SL ,the toyota cup comp in Aussy is nearly as competative as our SL i would rather give Mike another chance instead of signing the guy from cas last week good move the club anyway and welcome back mike hope you have a great year and earn another contract

Not unless he has played for the England Knights etc which I don't think he has.

I know it was years ago,and its football, but I remember Grimsby signing Paul Futcher from Halifax. He was at the end of his career and languishing in their reserves. He was signed for £10000 and everybody was up in arms about it.He came over and proved to be one of the best players Town have had.His experience alone turned out to be worth his weight in gold.Maybe the signing of the older players may have the same effect. One can live in hope.
I know this has nothing to do with Burnett, but I was just replying to the post.

| Decent signing, think he'll be in front of Aspinwall in the pecking order, can play prop too if needed.

| Well if the new cap system allows us to give an English, club trained player another chance when he'd probably end up drifting down the leagues and potentially out of the game, does this prove the RFL right?

He was poor at prop in his time here.
I'm underwhelmed by this signing, but not outraged. I'll be honest, when it was announced that he was leaving I wasn't really bothered. When he came onto the scene he was playing quite well, but then got injured and was never back to where he was afterwards. He's then had a fairly average season with quins.
However, I don't expect him to be in our first choice line-up. I expect our first choice back row to be Manu, Tickle, Westy, Aspinwall. I see Burnett as being a squad player (cheap, too) that has decent experience and a little potential that can come into the line-up if we get an injury, or to compete with Aspinwall/Green/Cunningham for the bench spot in order to get the best out of those players that we have.
It's only a one-year deal, so it's only a stopgap. He's not a world beater, but he'll be adequate for the next season.

| good additional cover - happier with him than Graeme Horne and prob.much cheaper !
Youngsters will see him as an example of just how hard it is to REALLY make it.
For me he always needed to bulk up and put on a stone, sure new coaches will have a view.
Won't hold anybody back and will give 100% - welcome back and best of luck Mike

In Adam we have trust
In peter we have belief
In our team we have pride: |
|
| Once again underwhelmed by another signing. Imo he did ok for us without pulling up trees. The thing is adequate n stop gap signings are'nt gonna win us anything and has it really improved our squad from last year, i dont think so.
