It's a system failure n not and individuals fault. I certainly wouldn't want to lose Fonuas carries in that 2nd when times were tough'"
I don't agree at all and certainly see Fonua as the major reason we've conceded so much down that side in the last two games. He shoots out the line far too quickly and leaves a massive gap between him and his winger. Even when we line up as they play the ball he's too far inside on most occasions.
That side and the system can only be as strong as it's weakest link and Fonua has been very weak positionally and his defensive reads at centre are awful.
Naughton switching sides hasn't helped him and I certainly have him at fault for one of the tries down that side last night. If Naughton gets dropped for Micheals before Fonua it will be an injustice to the kid.

Just watch the tries. Not 1 can be attributed to him. 2 outside of the winger. 1 naughton should of just been a bit tighter to sideline. Other that whole side didn't shift over.
1st try pryce clearly ball watching.
Michaels
Logan
Now Fonua
All right edge. Do u not see the pattern?

| I'm not going to single out any players but our right side of defence is definitely a problem. I was sitting at the east end of the south stand and it all happened right in front of me. The way they got through us with such ease was very worrying. I don't know what the answer is but there is clearly a problem.

I've watched them, on Catalan's 2nd and 3rd try's Fonua is marking up the wrong man, leaving Naughton with two men. Fonua gets attracted to the ball far too easily, it's as simple as that, nothing to do with the system or slide.
I don't really remember Micheals playing right centre too often and I thought with Logan it was the physicality he struggled with? I'm not wanting to bag Fonua, but he's a winger and really should play there.

| Main problem for me is we don't slide over enough leaving fonua and naughton isolated. Pryce isn't cutting it for me. Tuimvare should have a crack at stand off when fit

I agree that Fonua has been suspect in defence but having watched the tries back I'm not sure that was the case last night. First one is down to Pryce for mine, second one is Naughton jamming in, and third is the whole defence failing to slide.
I'll have another look but at first viewing that's what I saw.

The problem for the two try's I'm talking about is Fonua doesn't slide at all. He's not mobile enough for a centre.

When you look back, watch who he's actually lined up against. 2nd and 3rd try he's taking the wrong man leaving Naughton with 2 men and no choice but to jam in.

| Thought Sneyd was great last night, Glenn Stewart was trying to make him his bitch but he just kept going. Not many halves that'd 1-on-1 tackle a player his size successfully.

Get real. The footage is clear cut. Do u think he is superman and can stop everything
It's really clear and very simple footage
How in Gods name can 2 tries outside of the winger be centres fault?
Also after 1st he kicked off at pryce n Pryce accepted it!!

| Don't get see how Naughton's effort in first half wasn't a try, looked like he grounded it.

I'm not talking about the 1st, I'm talking about their 2nd & 3rd! I agree the first was Pryce's fault.
2 tries outside a winger can be the Centres fault when that Centre marks up wrong forcing the winger to jam in. A centre and winger defend in pairs, if the centre goes in so should the winger. Naughton did that, if he'd stayed out wide the Centre gets a walk in. Identifying your man is under 8's stuff.
