| Quote: Kosh "According to the BBC the vote was unanimous, so take your pick.
By the way, this structure appears to be different to the original 3 x 8 proposal. In fact in practice it's a standard season with 2 smaller playoffs at either end of the table.
Season passes look like they'll be sold in 2 blocks - one to cover the 11 home games in the regular season and another to cover the 'phase 2'/playoffs.'"
i think there are 2 things going on here, yes the clubs were unanimous in the fact that superleague should be cut to 12 and promotion and relegation reintroduced, however the vote on the 3 groups of 8 was likely to have been much tighter, the yorkshire post newspaper sees it this way today too - 7 for, 6 against, 1 abstaining. looking at the hull mail story, its quite possible hull voted against the new structure, but are taking the result on board and backing it AFTER the result was determined, even if they don't wholeheartedly agree with it. as has been said we'll know better after the forum

| The club has just released a statement saying it supports the new structure.
I think its a total joke, who will buy a season pass not knowing who you will be playing.

| The season pass will have to be for the eleven home games in the first part of the season.
Presumably clubs will have provisional plans to sell passes (or rather multi-game tickets) for either three or four games in the second part of the season. If the fixtures are based on league placings you might not know how many you will play at home until the completion of round 23.

Cheers.
That'll hopefully mean the equivalent four free games with the pass then
The RFL will probably change the system after five years anyway.

Throw in CC games & Internationals ,From a players point of view , That's a ridiculous amount . The players voted against this change so it seems the SL & RFL have just whitewashed over player & fans concerns .

| The club have to sell a pass for the full season and hope they get into the top 8 and the fans feel they've had value. Can you imagine trying to sell a mini pass covering 3 games against the likes of sheffiled, fev and halifax after a crap season and a 9th place finish?
I hope the clubs are getting a big chunk of extra cash for agreeing to this and that they don't feel they can suddenly add another £30+ to the cost of a pass to justify the extra game(s)

| Of course we don't know and will never know what would have happened to prices if the rebels had got their way. We'd have had a 12 team league so 11 instead of 13 home games. I can't imagine that it would have been a case of reducing the cost of a pass proportionately because of the drop in income that would cause so I guess that the price would have stayed at the same level with something "additional" included. With this new set up they have at least the excuse to maintain the price or even increase it because of the potential extra games. That may have been a factor in why some clubs went for it and others are prepared to live with it?

Marketing of the season passes for 2015 is going to be critical, in my opinion prices should be frozen at 2014 levels this could possibly entice a lot of doubters to sign up and they then have a sesaon to "suck it and see" what the new format looks like. The RFL should cough up a subsidy to the clubs to enable them to do this.
I would have preferred a 12 team super league fromn 2015 with one up one down, that said that would have meant only 11 home games a season, with the new format we know that we will have a minimum of 14 games, the sticking point is that we will not know the dates of the last 3 or 4 fixtures until round 23 (personally not bothered about who we would play in the last few games) and as many build their summer holidays around missing as few games as possible this could deter some fans from getting a pass - so as mentioned the pricing of the 2015 pass will be critical.
Another option could be to offer one pass for the whole season and another for fans who only want to commit to the first 23 rounds with an option of a mini pass after that.
Not seen any mention of when the 2015 league will start and finish? Or will it be the same length with the shortened play off format?

| I'm sure I read somewhere that if you had bought a pass for the last 2 seasons you'd get a 10% discount on 2015 seasons pass.

| First of all, I doubt had it been 12 teams with 1 up/down we'd have only had 22 fixtures. We had this system before with 27 fixtures and we'd probably have it again. Not that it matters because it didn't get voted in.
Secondly, the season itself is only 1 week longer. Although clubs will play 30 fixtures now, the play offs used to be 4 weeks long so that made 31 weeks. Factor in 5 CC rounds and that's a 36 week season. The new system only has 2 weeks of knock out rugby after the 30 weeks. I think I read that the top 8 will get a bye from the 4th round of the CC the year after, so it evens itself out pretty much anyway. To me, more guaranteed fixture is a HUGE bonus.
Finally, at a guess, I'd say the split will probably happen around CC semi final time. If they time it right, it will give two weeks to arrange fixtures and sell tickets if some clubs do decide to offer a split season pass. I think the club have done the right thing in offering a whole season pass though as it ties people in regardless. The play offs previously didn't sell well because people don't like paying on the door it seems (hence CC fixtures having low attendances).
To be honest, I'm really looking forward to it. It'll be far better than now.
