| I "pounced" when Grima was appointed. I asked who he was and what experience he had as a first team coach.....I was told/assured he was a good guy. Well good guys finish last. I don't want a good guy coaching the team I follow, I want a mongrel who will infect the players with a steel....an iron will to win.
His is a damp squib of a coach who thinks smiling and spitting out soundbites is enough.....and given Hughes's recruitment record, he's probably right! Hughes is like the old grandad with dementia that you keep asking for money from and he keeps giving it because he doesn't remember previous hand-outs. This time around he's hired a coach who immediately started recruiting his mates.......surely I'm not alone in being very concerned
We were beaten by the conditions? Players weren't ready?
love me sideways.....bring back TR

Dwyer was what we needed to bring some speed following the last few seasons and in fairness he started off doing a decent job.
I’ve been critical of Houghton and the performances put in the over the last year or two as well as the coaches that have kept him on for 80mins. However I’ve have also given him praise for his performances of late which have been a part of the recent upturn in the teams performances.
For me Dwyer whilst he can indeed be an attacking threat is far too often taking the wrong option, going to the wrong side and his performances since the start of the season haven’t been as good as they should.
Houghton isn’t the answer however at present he is is the better option we have.

Dwyer has been really disappointing, I can think of good runs, Cas home, Warrington away and Wakey away, costs us much more times. Houghton has been miles better, whilst he won't make a clean break like Dwyer does every 6 games, he makes better choices, makes good scoots, backs up well and can tackle.
His efforts on Hill and Vaughen were outstanding, really tarflgeeting them.
Having a good season, but still think it's time to retire, one season too many, just have to find a suitable replacement.

| Obsession with Dwyer is plain weird man. He’s been a pretty awful signing with the odd bit of excitement.
Believe it or not Defence wins games and, for example, he’s to blame for Leigh’s winning try this week. He shoots out like a headless chicken and his initial contact is poor.
I’d be considering Balmforth or Lovodua to be our bench hooker against st Helen’s.
Dwyer is a hooker who is class in a dominant side but he’s no good when you’re under the pump

Even when we dominated against Cas (cup) Wakey away he didn't look great, apart from one run

I'm with you. I know I've said it a few times but I'd like to see Balmforth get an extended run in the side, IF he is staying.
We know Dwyer is leaving and to be honest his performances haven't been good enough. Lately he's only been doing 20 minutes which I'm sure Balmforth is capable of doing.
Would like to see us go with Houghton/Balmforth for a couple of games and put Dwyer in the reserves.
Just think we could end up with 0 hookers signed on for next year (obviously don't know what's going on behind the scenes though) so keeping Balmforth if he's good enough could ease that problem somewhat.
I did hear Jez Litten for next year a while back from a source which is usually pretty good, however as there's hasn't been any social media/journalist whisperings by now which there usually would be, then I'm starting to think that one may be wrong.

Think you are being kind when you say Dwyer has been disappointing.
Call a spade a spade.
Houghton is the much better nine and far better when managed correctly with his on field minutes but Smith is slowly doing what others have previously done and starting to play him for 80 minutes.
Cant see the nine positions changing to introduce the likes of Balmforth or Lovodua as Smith seems very dogmatic as we have seen with the continued use of Lane.

Problem I have with Houghton is he's so limited
People bang on about his tackling cause he doesn't do hardly anything else of any note
10 metre scoots when defence is on the backfoot isn't good enough for top level rugby hence why he hasn't played international

| Who cares about international. Right now we have our squad. Who offers more… Houghton. So he’s first choice.
Then back up hooker is a contribution of who offers most, who complements houghton best and who offers the the best long term value.
I look at Balmforth and think he could be a Cunningham esque player. Huge frame and offers some go forward. His fitness is an issue but if he’s getting short stints it’s not an issue.
I’m just hoping Keiron and not James

| HULL FC v St Helens - (if one has an imagination.......keep it fertile).
HULL KR v Salford - (a joyous repeat of the 2016 'Million Pound Game' would be delightful, but not feeling it).
Wigan v WARRINGTON (prefer it if they both lost).
York v LEIGH (leopardprint is taking over the world, apparently).
