| Brian Smith is the best coach that I have seen at our club. There hasn't been a single coach since that has had such an impact since.
I hope those questioning his ability are correct as we'll need all th help we can get in the middle 8.

John Kear won more in a year than any other coach since Bunting. You need to stay lost.

Must have been difficult to see buried under all those trophies. He's not the answer, if indeed there's a question.
The rose tinted view of him nearly 30 years after the event is pretty grim reading. What's his trophy record like?

Lets see IF Smith can improve Wakefield's performances, with the same squad that he has inherited from a previous coach.
How do you know, he isnt the answer?? he hasnt even arrived here yet.
There was a question on Radford's ability, a few weeks ago, I personally feel he's taken us as far as he can, thats my opinion.
Kudos to Wakefield, who've realised that employing unproven Asst Coaches, who've not learnt under an experienced Head Coach doesnt work..not until they've served a lengthy apprenticeship, with the foundations in place.
Lets put things into perspective, its far harder to win a NRL Grand Final
than to win a major final in the UK. the calibre of players & teams is of a higher standard over there.
I'd rather have Brian Smith overseeing our youth than Lee Radford.

I'd actually rather have someone learning their trade then someone who lost his way Coaching some 20 years ago.
The game (and our club) has moved on. It speaks volumes that Wakefield is the only club to call him.

| Smithy was really good for us but that was back then. He's flattered to deceive in the NRL and has had his last drink in nowhere saloon over there. Its sad really but thats just the way it is.
If his peers in Auz believed he had something to offer, especially with his level of experience he'd be doing a job at a lower level out there. But he's not.
He was the one hunting out the gig at Wakefield. He's got nothing to lose.....and the brass will come in handy too.
He'll always get a great reception here though, he gave us some good memories in a short time. Then left us.

| What many forget is the financial mess he left us in. it could be argued that it was the Directors who were responsible for the purse strings but Smith wanted full control over all aspects of the playing side (including contracts and negotiating transfers). The aftermath of his departure lead to Entat not being offered a deal / Karl Harrison having to be sold and ultimately Lee Jackson being sold to balance the books.

Some people forget (or refuse to acknowledge) that Smith made the club bankrupt before clearing off back to Aus to look after his own interests. He, along with McRae, is lauded when they should just warrant a shake of the head and a comment of "never again".
