I didn't expect a win I expected a close defeat but what I didn't expect after all the hype is for us to collapse and get rolled over like fc teams of old, all I'm suggesting is I see nothing in this current fc squad to think we can be anything but average AGAIN.

To be honest I thought the same after the rovers friendly, I saw nothing in that game to suggest anything had changed.

We never rolled over we were outplayed by a far superior team, however we have a lot of time to build after tonight's performance and aim for a decent finish to the campaign, then hey ho who knows. Leeds are presently the best team in the world! and we entered the game with a new h/back combination and some key players missing (Ellis, Tickle & Watts), we actually matched them in the first 60 and it was a very entertaining game. The problem was they up to another gear in the second half and we was unable to match them at this stage of the campaign but it is still early days and the early signs suggest we can only get better.

not a great start but like a lot of posters have already said where a very new team and we need time to gel it would of been nice to have a start like rovers have got to allow the players to bed in but we have got to get on with it , im sure we will be a lot better next week, we have had a kicking tonight but you stick together dust your self down and get on with it come on you hull arrrrr

Do you get a certificate when you are , by what and who's measurement are you deemed to pass the maturity test ?

I am a mature man and father BUT when I watch FC I become an emotional wreck and have been known to cry into my pint many times

Not at the point of writing the season off and entering dark depression...but I can't deny it was a disapointing night.

same old problems in attack, with little ideas and leadership...and I felt we badly lacked Manu & Moa to give us impact in the forwards, at times it was hard to tell who was a 2nd rower and who was a prop.

Seymour had another awful game, he tries hard, but his error rate is shocking, and he offers little in attack.

lots of time to improve and get better, but I didn't see anything tonight that made me think we'd rise about mid-table mediocrity.

"Come on you ull": stated stated that that we've only PLAYED one game, what game was we playing? I've have been a pass holder since the 70's and that was pathetic. Forget about about Ellis getting injured, this is a squad and team game, "We've talked the talk" but we couldn't "Walk the walk".
I read this Forum on a regular basis and haven't posted for at least 3 years but tonights poor performance has prompted me to get typing. Don't forget that this was also Leeds first game of the season, so no excuses and hopefully we will see a better team performance next week.

Only the p**s poor standard of hull fan these days could create a thread like this on an opening night of a season. My word.
Yeah, wasn't great. But I'm not shocked we looked rusty/poor in attack. Many debuts, new combos away at the champions who were as good and on song as we were bad n off key.
Get a grip

We're not the only team that has injuries and new players and new combinations. Matching teams is not good enough and that's been our problem over the last few years we can match teams but never get on top. Leeds are not unbeatable and we shouldn't fear them or show them any respect in that last 30mins tonight we rolled over to easy.

If you spend your life believing the "hype" then more fool you. We have had more false dawns in all the years I have supported the club to realise that it's simple rhetoric. The true talking occurs on the field.

I am certainly one of those who would rather we didn't talk to the press & fans constantly. The facts from tonight are.We have loads to work on. Leeds are a settled team. Despite the odd addition their spine is well established. Us on the other hand are not bedded in and have had little or no time to establish a rapport. We should have expected this though maybe not so emphatically.

1, 6, 7 , 9 & 13 are all strangers to each other.

As call me Dave would say. Calm down dears and judge us over 10 games first.

We were Shit !!! Defence kept us in it first half ,Leeds cut loose we had no answer.Not an absolute disaster as some would have us believe,however afterall the friggin hype the same GLARING FAULT was there for all to see . OUR HALFBACKS WAS CRAP.Things can only get better,or so ive been told.
