| Quote: Locko's Luck "Me and the wife went into the city centre on a Friday night for the Heritage Weekend. We walked back towards the station at 12.o.clock and it was shut! Not even a taxi. The city centre was absolutely dead, on a Friday night that takes some believing.'"
That's the thing though, Princess Ave would probably have been busy, there's a finite number of people with the cash and desire to go out on a weekend, when I first started going out it was all around the Old Town and Marina, Romeo's was still around, Trogg Bar had closed along with Bali Hai in the preceeding years, then we progressed towards Bond Street/LA's, then it was back to Old Town when Waterfront got it's act together, along came Circus Circus/Heaven & Hell etc. What is there now, Pozition, which is like being in a crap disco on a cross channel ferry (complete with the smell of vomit), Welly, Sugar Mill, not much else?
The only place that has never changed is The Adelphi.

I used to love going to 'The Tower' as a kid, saw some real classics there, Bond as you mentioned, Battle of Britain, The Herbie Movies etc... Also used to frequent The Cecil, Criterion and Dorchester, don't think I ever set foot in The Regent 'cos it was usually shoing 'X' Rated films. I know they were flea pits but much more fun to visit then the souless multiplexes you get now.

Welly was also closed. We past it on the way home.
Adelphi is still a dump, but a very significant one. I love the place.

Pozition isn't bad I don't think, there's plenty of choices of music and its pretty big too. Spiders is still going but once I got to 17 I felt too old to be in there and there's ChiChi on North Bridge but that's mainly for private parties. You're right though, for a city the size of Hull the nightlife isn't great at all, even compared to somewhere like Huddersfield.

depends what you are comparing it to, did you ever go to LA's when it very first opened?, or Heaven and Hell (I think it was actually something else when it first opened) Pozition is awful in comparison.

I'm only 20 so LA's and Heaven & Hell had shut by the time I started going out, so I can only properly compare it to the clubs in Hull and Huddersfield.

then I understand what you're saying, of the places you've been Pozition is probably on a par.
