I don't think we improved in all those areas and we still were inconsistent (Widnes away then Bulls away as examples). However I would say there were improvements in how we played. Which is why I can't understand how we seem to have gone backwards.
The issue for me is that we don't have any identity in how we play. We don't have a structure which we can see slowly taking shape. We just look like a rabble.

It's been a bug bearer of mine for ages the lack of skill level we have at the club . We just never seem to improve under succession coaches .

| Quote: PAUL M "Sacking Gentle now would be the wrong decision, he deserves the season. However, I see little progression in the side and if that continues then AP may need to act. We still have absolutely zero attacking structure, lose the collision, fail to play the ball quickly, don't offer dummy runners, don't support enough, don't offload enough. These are all fundamental issues I would expect to see improvement in. This is the biggest disapointment for me.'"
The really frustrating thing is, Paul, that we [idid[/i see improvements in all these areas last season. And arguably in the first few games of this season. I'm not saying we solved these problems entirely but we did improve.
Now we've gone backwards and have fallen into the same old patterns of play. I don't believe that's down to Gentle but he's the one who has to deal with it - and sooner rather than later.

| Quote: PAUL M "That's why his injury excuse doesn't sit well with me. Of course we are missing some key players but we still do so many basic things wrong. We had no attacking structure against Rovers whatsoever. Yet we had trained all week with those player in those positions?'"
Gentle agrees with you mate. He made it clear in his after match interview that despite the injuries and all that went with them he was confident of winning with the side that we put out.
He need to find a way of getting the players reproducing in matches what they do in training. Although for me it's a sad state of affairs if they can't do this in a Derby off their own back. Add in the fact that at least two of them clearly could and you have to wonder what's going on with the rest of them.

| It's often said you learn more about players in defeat than victory. Same goes for the coach. Gentle's had a rough hand this season but he's not alone. Several coaches have been without half-backs / key players & most of them have found some sort of fix. Not ideal but you play the cards you're dealt.
This is where Gentles limitations have been exposed imo, an inability to think laterally & develop a plan b when he's outside of his comfort zone...& this looks like it's transferred to the players.
I knew we'd won yesterday when Galea knocked on. The body language of Hulls players was awful. Every single one dropped their heads, no leadership, no belief. Even at 0-0 they looked like they'd accepted defeat. Can't look beyond your coach for that.

This is why I've been saying all season. What has changed? It's weird.

It's really baffling mate, it's basic passing skills.

Which is why for me you have to blame players and coach in equal measures. That said a top coach would sort it out.

Most coaches would sort it out by dropping under performing players. Gentle has said as much himself. Unfortunately we're now in a position where that simply isn't possible. Gentle has to find another way and TBH I have no idea what that might be.

not to belittle fc but what top coach would want to come? who do you catagorise as top? The likes of sheen, Bennett etc dont need the money or a team building exercise. Their likes only come to clubs with an already winning mentality and just needs their powder of gold dust to take them ever higher. its not a money thing its more of an ego thing.

Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

How do you explain Bennett to the perpetually under performing Dragons then? Or same to Newcastle?
