| Quote: hesslefan "A few observations on last night just to get them off my chest.
A dramatic occasion being a Derby and in that weather but probably one of the poorest quality games of rugby I can remember seeing. If I see another game where all the tries are so scrambled and scrappy I will lose interest.
We were poor and Rovers slightly less so, so the best team won.
He was not the reason we lost but Hewer was poor. I do not watch Rovers so do not know anything about about Jewitt but what a cheap thug. At least a couple of late, off the ball tackles which along with the crusher tackle on Griffin and Tickle's charge in to Taylor's back when he was held should be reviewed by the disciplinary committee. If not then a few fellow professionals should give Tickle a good talking to down a dark alley because that was simply dangerous. I like Tickle from his time at Hull but that was poor. When Hewer called Scruton over for his second high tackle he seemed to give him a one word telling off - comical.
Wet slippery conditions so for god's sake why don't players carry the ball in two hands? Our ball control was pathetic and probably cost us the game. We made good yards and in the first half at least barely finished a set.
Our creativity in attack in the absence of Kelly and Connor is non existent. This is not a criticism of Sneyd who does a different job.
I would be happier with Crooks and Hall in our squad than some of the youngsters we have persisted with who I do not think will make the grade - not as regular first teamers but good back up squad members.
We are on a poor run but I am glad I am not a Leeds fan.
How does an 80 minute game last 2 hrs and 10 minutes?
The roof leaks above my seat in the West Stand!'"
Taylor was held, but not ‘HELD!’, so Tickle’s tackle was brutal but legal. It made me wince-smile, i’ll say that. There was nowt in the ‘crusher tackle’ on slapper Griffin, and i’ll be disgusted if that gets a charge... although not necessarily surprised.
Nothing personal, but the mental image of you with a monk-on, sat beneath the leaking roof made me snort-laugh, and turned an ordinary post into something of literary merit.

Is Shaul fast though? When did he last make a break and not get chased down? Haven't seen him get a shift on since he chased down Sandow at Wembley in 2016.

| We need to get hungry again for next season.

Yeah the Griffin crusher was a whole load of nothing. Makes me cringe when fans are screaming and chanting for the ref to send him off. Griffin just turned in the tackle and and I don't think there wasn't really any unnecessary pressure applied. I do though have a problem with the inconsistencies that referees show in this situation, such as in the CC cup game when Richardson turned his back into Houghton and we ended up getting a yellow card from it.
Tickle hit into Taylor's back as you say was a legal challenge. Bad sportsmanship most definitely. The tackle was complete (held hadn't been called but it was pbvious nobody was going anywhere) and he was wrapped up by 3 men. Very unnecessary but nothing in the rules against it.

Yeah, i’ve got to admit to enjoying it as guilty pleasure and acknowledge my hypocrisy in that i’d be pretty unimpressed if it was the other way around. But you can always justify it by recalling times when we’ve been bullied or suffered for being too nice, if you want to. I’ve got enough material to keep buying off my conscience for a good while to come fortunately/unfortunately.

Yep. He's got the acceleration but not the top speed it seems.

Put yourselves in their position for a moment. They loved Scott Taylor and called for him to get a 5 year deal there. Just look at this:
viewtopic.php?f=59&t=522913
Then imagine that Hudgell tries to stall his arrival at Hull FC so he sends him to Wigan where he learns how to win trophies. Then he brings that knowledge to Hull and is a pivotal player in us ending the Wembley hoodoo and winning back to back Challenge Cups, whilst getting in the Dream Team and earning the international selection they said he would achieve with them. Then being vocal about his love for Hull FC. You can see why they'd be hoping he'll come a cropper. Savouring a rough tackle by Danny Tickle is fair enough in that context, meaningless in the bigger picture but a crumb of consolation in our relative achievements of the last few seasons.

| Interesting for me to be reminded how nervous I was about ‘building for the future’ as early as March 2012. I’m not sure we got ‘admired’, but ‘patronised’ and ‘struggling’, tick and tick. Like a Hull KR Cassandra, me - it’s cack being right sometimes.
Given the nature of our sport, I think ‘sick’ is a helluva of a stretch. I’d put it beside that time Travis Burns picked up an opponent’s boot and wanged it down the other end of the pitch.

einstien said insanity is when a person does the same thing over and over again but expects a different result: |
|
| I watched Taylor make his debut as a 16 year old yes it would have been great to keep him because you knew he was going to be a great player but it wasn’t to be yeah I enjoyed the tackle and if it had been the other way round I’d have called it a cheap shot but that’s what fans do

| Let them have the glory of a cheap shot.
At the end of the day, we’ve got Scott Taylor, they’ve got Danny Tickle.

You keep your sick fantasies to your self.
Your team is well coached. They went after Crooks and Hall who stood up well in defence. They then made it hell for Oakes in the second half courtesy of great kicking by Abdul.
He's built a very good team whilst developing good young players. Can he build another is the question.
