| While I agree with the comments that Mitch is more of a squad player and is 28, dont forget that there are salary cap and quota bonuses for him as hes a former Union player and British Army soldier. So he costs less in real terms than other options, I also think he runs hard and at least has a dig. 1 year deal for me, we cant replace everyone in one go.

First year he wasn’t on the cap, second year half his value was. He’s now on full cap.
He’s against Carlos, Sutty, Wynne, Scott, wakocoke for centre
And swift, Mcintosh, Wynne, Litten, Martin, And Barron for wing without signing a new winger.
Our reserves are class but is that because we’re spending too much on fringe players and that there is little difference in quality between them and the first team squad. In an ideal world you’d want to keep Mitch and I wouldn’t grumble at a one year deal but I just think investing his cap elsewhere might be useful.

Ah didnt realise that I gave up understanding the cap and quota places long ago!
Id release both Swift and Mcintosh, Swift more due to injuries and salary as I think he is a decent winger, Mcintosh is just poor.
We need to decide what style of winger we are after, we have gone from Talanoa who was like an extra prop to then Faraimo who was ok but like a not as good tribute act, to wingers who arent strong or fast. Either you get one who is lightening quick or one that barges and helps the workload.

Speed is the way to go in my opinion. We need wingers who can track back and help stop breaks, as well as been there to finish them if we ever manage to break through.
Matty Ashton or Tommy Makinson aren't in the Faraimo mould but they have pace and because they use their pace when running the ball in they still win the contact and make good metres.
We are slow all over the pitch and have been for a number of years now.

Mcintosh has been poor but not as poor as people make out imo. It’s clear he can’t D but I think he gets scapegoated a lot when it’s the pivot inside that are letting the edge down. If he was out of contract id let him go but sadly he’s not and I’m not too sure anyone would be beating our door down for him. I’m just confused he looked decent at hudds and they wanted to keep him but just doesn’t seem to have transitioned very well. Occasionally shows glimpses in my opinion but usually utilising his ball playing ability.
Swift on the other hand is a grafter, still got pace and we don’t want too much change in one go. I’d probably keep him for another year or two for a bit more stability.
Talanoa was the full package, what I’d give to have him back. Fans rave about Ratu but he wasn’t a patch on Tuli in my opinion.

I see a lot of people mention Darnell’s lack of pace. (Not saying you have) I might be wrong but didn’t he rupture his Achilles after we signed him? May be a factor as to why he looked better at Hudds & not quite the player we were expecting.

| I can't think of a real positive of Mcintosh as a winger, not particularly quick, not really strong and awful postionally.
Think we have been a bit unlucky with him, think the injury he got while playing against us and done some damage.

I was pleased when we signed McIntosh as he'd often impressed at Huddersfield but sadly I think you might be right about the long term effects of his injury. Just not worked out for him at Hull.

Think you’re being a bit harsh on Mcintosh there tbh Dave.
Sure he hasn’t turned out to be the player we thought we were getting. Whether that is down to his injury who knows?
I’m also well aware of his brain farts that invariably get punished because we are playing poorly and short on confidence.
But I think there is the makings of a decent rugby player there with some good coaching and if his confidence could be improved.

| Lets be honest who actually looks decent in this dysfunctional squad. Nobody
Needs ripping up and starting again. Easy to look terrible in rugby when half your teammates arnt having a go.
Not really feeling any of the names weve been linked too apart from Jai Whitbread who would bring brilliant workrate for a prop and plays big minutes.
Much rather play some young lads than sign plodders like daniel smith would be an aboslute waste of cap and prove weve learnt nothing

I'm not, won't make a good winger as no real pace or power, you can't coach that.

Agree with your point in general but I think we are desperate for a prop right now, even 10% more umpf from the pack would give the Backs more space to play and lift their performances. Prop is also a postion where age is important, young lads simply arent physically big enough yet.
Any other position and id be dead against signing stopgap players.

And shies away from taking catches. Watch the game back from Friday to witness that. Windy.

Its chaos at the minute as one week its the forwards going missing, but against rovers for the first half i thought our forwards looked interested and made some good yards, shame we decided to pass to anyone but our kickers on the 5th. And this is it with this squad you just dont know whos going to turn up its bedlam with no real leadership and calming influences. Nig problem is at 6 now with mcnamara doing his best hoemr simpson impression of sinking into the bushs and hiding.
So whats it this week the pack, the backs, the non existent 6, the absent leadership, or the bizarre hooking pass selections?

| Forwards are lazy, let all the backs do the work, which was OK, when we had Fonua, Talanoa etc, but not with our backs.
