Very entertaining game last night, second half inparticular.

A couple of points, a few FC fans earlier in this thread said Chase wasn't good enough to win the game on his own for Cas, ironically enough, he was on his own, as we only played 1 half back to play an extra forward to match FC in the pack, sound work by Powell and as it happens, Chase was (as he always is) instrumental when we win.

I thought Miller looked very promising for you guys, he will get better, showed some nice touches & a good turn of pace, I think we targeted him early doors. A bit strange for us to concede 6 tries but for the fan to be relatively happy with Cas' defence, but Hull have an ability to score from anywhere on the field. What more can be said about Crooks, unit. I genuinely thought Lineham had won it at the end, heard a roar from some of the fans in the PSE and immediately gipped! RL drama at its best.

Also, the biggest away following for a sky game at Cas I've seen from an away side for as long as I can remember. Like FC fans, travel in numbers, generate a good atmosphere, like to have fun and are proper RL fans. As disappointing as it is to lose to Cas, I think you'll bounce back, with Horne, Ellis & Briscoe to return, I think you'll be alright, top 5 & I'll be cheering you on for the cup (unless you get Sheffield!)

Quote: FlexWheeler "how come hull didn't defend like their lives depended on it, as they did against leeds?

Beats the 2 grand finalists from last year. Then loses against catalans and cas. How have hull developed from last year again?'"

its down to attitude, its what seperates the top 4 from the rest, teams like ourselves, catalan (who were level on points with us at the time we played them so it wasn't going to be a easy game), kr and even cas, we don't seem to get up for teams who are lower than us, we just seem to do enough, before last nights loss to cas we had only dropped 3 points to teams outside the 8!

be just like fc to beat hudds in 2 weeks time!

The game could have gone either way, I don't think we were at our best but i give lots of credit to Cas, I think Powell has got them playing well.
I dont blame Holdsworths kicking, I dont think there were any gimmees for him, but maybe for Ticks Yes. Before the game I hoped for a narrow win and expected a narrow loss. Anyway it was great game of Rugby. We have no devine right to just turn up and win.

Just watching the replay.
A few culprits in the tackling department but Watts attempt on Walker was particularly dog-turd.

I don't know about other people, but I'm fed up of reading some article from one of our players saying we need to do this or that if we're going to win and then running on to the pitch and doing the exact opposite. Either do what you say, or stop writing bloody stupid articles. The fans are not idiots and don't need telling what the team needs to do.

If you have a gander at the Hull FC facebook page, you'll see a few of them really, really, are. The club can't win but a few morale boosting articles is a lot better than simply saying nothing and just getting a 2 minute video of "us need to up us game a bit, us will get in the 8"

I'd agree except that morale boosting articles are OK if the action corresponds to the words. Unfortunately its not been the case on some occasions. I'd rather they did the business on the field than in print.

Not a criticism but I think Ben could perhaps have got a 5th try of the match if he'd have gone on his own and not passed to Tom Lineham on our very last play of the game.
Seemed to have shrugged the tackler off but was already committed to passing instead of going direct for the line.
Hindsight and watching replays is a wonderful thing. icon_smile.gif

I thought the same, but Crooks probably thought that Lineham would have a better chance of getting through with him being a brick house.

Thats because McDonnell is pretty average. For every thing he does well he does something poor. Id put him on a par with Eden tbh.

After a promising start his limitations are starting to show now. Our attack just seems to fizzle out every time he gets the ball out wide. It's not always his fault as the ball has been slow getting there but I still think he could do better.

my only criticism of crooks was as he scored his 3rd try, lineham was screaming and pointing to put the ball down closer to the goalpost as well as a few of us in the stand behind the goal, instead he just ran a straight line and grounded the ball, there was cas player tracking back but he could quite easily have side stepped and wrong footed him
