Contracts mean nothing in sport these days. The 2 year deal was an attempt to dampen down, what I imagine the board consider unhelpful and distracting speculation, but he won't be at Hull come the end of the season should they continue to play in this manner.

I for one am not quite ready to join the Agar out crowd, there is enough about this team for him to still come good imo, but I can quite understand why some people are calling for the axe.

There is enough in the team to come good in my opinion, but even if that is the case it will be in spite of Agar.

Totally agree with you

Look at warrington and cullen quality players but cr@p coach they bring in Smith and they win the challenge cup and are going to be big challengers again this year!!!

No. A coach in charge of the team, the tactics, the subsitutations, the disapline, all aspects. If the team come good, then Agar is part of it. Same for any coach, in any comparable sport.

So, you say a coach turned the fortunes of the club around thus demonstrating the importance of the role, but agree with him that that any success at Hull FC now would be in spite of the coach? That's somewhat confusing.

Do you not think though it works both ways?, whoever was in charge of the current Wigan team they wold still be a good side because of the quality they have, but there appointment of there coach has taken them to another level, the players we have we will be a decent side, not as good as we could be tough.

Of course it works both ways, that's exactly my point.

The players have to play for the coach and the coach has to perform for the players. That's how you suceed in sports like Rugby League, at this level at least. Hence why I say, if the lads start performing again, and we start winning then Agar should get a proportion of the credit, as it certainly will not be "in spite" of him imo.

None of this means that I believe that Agar is a good coach, there is very little to show that at the moment, but the point remains nonetheless.

I personally think this thread should be entitled 'AGAR & RULE OUT' as its that fecking tool that keeps on backing Agar. Theyre both as useless as each other IMO.

It is Rules job, do you expect any club who still employs a coach to say he is doing a terrible job?

Rule did not give Agar a 2 year extension, that was down to other people.

Well, the way Huddersfield are stuffing Rovers 18-0 at the moment, I would say employing a coach who knows what he's doing is ample proof that Agar is out of his depth.

It is up to individuals to be at their best, but it is up to the coach for the team to be at it's best. There are some good individual performances, but some (if not most) things can only be done successfully as a team.
There have been many seasons when we have played well above ourselves, and that is because we played as a team. We are very much under performing since Sharp/Agar

Watching the Hudds/Rovers game is actually making me more depressed, to see a club that has such p!ss poor support fielding a team of such quality and playing a brand of rugby league we could only dream of. We are being well and truely mugged at Hull icon_sad.gif

Hudds are another team who look fitter, stronger, more committed and far sharper than Hull have looked for 5 years plus. Every player knows their job and performs it to the best of their ability. They are clearly motivated and confident in their level of fitness to be able to put 4 and 5 players into tackles, to chase kicks hard, and to keep a fast line speed. We are getting worse and not better in these fundamentals of the game. It is a fair question to ask why we cant get near these levels.
