| For me Sullivan was the best closely followed by Taffy but if it hadn't have been for broken legs I really believe that Kevin James would have gone on to great things. Difficult isn't it when you've watched for a while. I forgot to mention Fili Seru and Patrick Solliel. There I mentioned them Ha

| If you look through our long history then Ivor Watts with over 400 appearances and 200 tries has to be in contention as our second highest try scorer. Often overlooked for some reason he was at the Club for over 39 years, still holds the record for most tries in Derby's and had 15 years playing first team rugby for the Club when if he was fit he was an automatic choice. Lovely bloke too. Wilf Rosenberg was the most exciting winger I saw, but I just wish I had seen Bruce Ryan! Clive is the obvious top choice Though.

| My immediate thoughts were Clive Sullivan and Dane O'Hara and then after reading other posters favourites made me think back to my early days as a supporter when Keith Bowman and little Ivor Watts were on the wings . Two very contrasting types of players. Keith big and strong and Ivor with his mazey runs. When I first saw Van Volanhovan(can't spell ) of Saints I wished we had a winger with that shear pace and then came Clive . Been my all time favourite ever since. What a nice guy as well. We went to see him at work and asked if he could ask the team to sign my lads birthday card. Not a problem. The following week we had the card back signed by all the players and coaches. Super guy.
There are lots of candidates for the other wing but I'm sticking with Dane O'Hara. I think that team with the Kiwis in it was our most exciting team to watch.

| Keep the names coming folks, looks like it's going to be a hard task selecting the 8 nominees, let alone the final 2
Don't forget to vote on the fullback thread if you haven't already

| Surprised no one has mentioned Tevita. I know he played for us at the lower level, but it was fun while it lasted.

“We will not accept a top eight finish as a barometer of supposed success at any point in the future whilst I am the owner of this club.
Thats why you got the Bullet Agar...Adam Pearson wants winners...not useless gits like you.

Super winger, who only started playing league when he was about 30 and became one of the best wingers in SL. If he signed for Hull or another RL team when he was 18, god knows how good he could have been.
We certainly made a big mistake not keeping him.

Another very good winger back in the 40's and 50's was an Aussie called Keith Gittoes who played on the other wing to Bruce Ryan. Below are extracts from an article he wrote a couple of years ago in Australia about memories of his Hull days.
" I played for Hull from 1948-1952 and 1956-57.
When I arrived in Hull in Sept.1948 George Watt was club captain and he came to Hull with Bruce Ryan in early 1947 after playing for Australia against Great Britain in 1946. He was a great hooker.
Also with Hull in 1948 were the great Hull stalwarts Freddie Miller and Charlie Booth who both played for England pre-war. Freddie Miller is probably the best kicker of a football I've ever seen. I'll never forget his attempt at a field goal at Batley, from his own 25 yard line which passed by the right upright with plenty of height.
It was with players of the quality of John Whiteley, Colin Hutton, Ivor Watts, Mick Scott, Tommy Harris, Bryan Cooper, Bernard Conway, the Drake boys, that Hull started to make its presence felt.
I have great memories of my time in England and every day I give a thought to Cec(Dickie) Fifield who signed me up for Hull."

| I would go for Sullivan and Best.
Next choices would be from Prendiville, O'Hara, Firth, Eastwood and Solal.
I feel sorry for Eastwood in a way being overshadowed by so many other classy wingers and if you look at his statistics he remained in the top 10 of try, goal and points scorers - nationally - for years after he finished playing.
Another goal scoring winger worthy of consideration is Matt Crowther, career finished early by injury.

| On the subject of wingers a guy called Brian Darlington is listed as playing from 1955-1959 but I can find little information about him. He was a sub even time sprinter who was gym master at my high school for the final 2 years I was there. I did watch him play then but can find little on him in searches. Anybody else remember him or can shed more light?

Is this a comment on my suggestion or the poster who mentioned "Solleil" earlier?
Your nominations are?
