I can only smile at that and hope its irony, considering your coaches comments.

He wasn't though. His head was over the line, but did not touch the whitewash, which means he's still in the field of play - like when a player jumps from the pitch to save a 40/20, they are over the line but no on the ground, so its allowed (i think )

| Just a quick question to all out there:-
Have we done away with the rule that you have to play the ball with your foot back to the acting half back?
I only ask this because it is very rare now when you watch that a player EVER touches it with his foot or for that matter makes any atempt too, a foot is lifted and the ball thrown back with the hand.
The powers that be only seem concerned with scoring more and more points and making the game 'entertaining' and tackling and the play the balls are becoming so quick and messy that they resemble more a game of 'touch rugby'
Just curious.

| Depends which game Alibert is refereeing - lower games (Wakey v Cru for example) he's good. For the bigger games, on Sky, he loses control of the game. The good thing with Alibert is his fitness is very good and is always there to make the decisions.
To me, it seems there's two groups. The decent referee's (Silverwood, Ganson, Bentham and Alibert) and the useless bunch (Thaler, Child and Hicks).

| Alibert and Bentham are by far the best 2 refs in the comp.

It's the inconsistency that is the problem, on their day they are all decent referees.

We had Bentham yesterday. He was pretty poor. Top bloke though. A few of the Cru fans were in fancy dress getting pics with him. He seemed to enjoy it.....

The thing that makes Bentham better than the others is the way he controls the PTB he seems to be the only 1 who knows how to reward good tackling technique, with Silverwood and Ganson in particular its as though they just count to 3 in their head and call move regardless.

Couldn't agree more.
I think Thalers fault is that he looks for the less obvious things around the PTB area. He seems to be constantly looking to penalise a ball-steal, but then misses more obvious things, like holding down/markers etc.
Child just seems to love the sound of his own whistle and doesn't let the game flow.

I meant Alibert and Bentham, Child is just a joke, he isn't fit for NL2
but refereeing is so difficult to get into, the RFL make it so complicated, and even then, you don't progress on ability, the blazer mentality kicks in.

Aye,I know it's pretty unbelievable - every time he's been down to Perpignan over the past few seasons he's been TERRIBLE - but he upgraded to MEDIOCRE for the Quins game which I suppose must be considered as an improvement ?
saying that,he's still the worst ref in the SL by a mile !
I reckon Thierry is the most consistent so far this season IMO,certainly the most improved surely ?
