All the rhetoric and rubbish aside , Long was a gamble that hasn't paid off. Long was in many peoples eyes , including Sts fans that I know personally and have been life long fans of his , just about finished. His final year with them was hit and miss at best. It was a big ask for a more or less one club player to leave his beloved Saints and that team that was like a family to him to start again in Hull. I guess that his intentions were and probably still are good but it just hasn't happened and the longer he's injured the older he's getting and the harder it will be mentally and physically.
His signing is like a number we've made , not the player we needed at that time but one that was available and affordable and there was no one else that would come/was available. No doubt if he went back to saints now to replace Eastmond he'd be the local hero returning and he'd lift them and they'd lift him. It's a world of difference doing it here though. It will be interesting to see how Saints replace Eastmond.

He can play halfback aswell, is more consistently involved than long is in a game and will probably go well. But i expect him to be dropped as soon as Long is fit.

Personaly I have always been a big fan of Long,but I have to agree his appearences have been disappointing.Its a bit like buying a Ferrari,only to find the previous owner thrashed it for thousands of miles.
I don`t think anybody should accuse him of taking the pi$$,the guy always gives 100%.

I don't think Long is 'taking the pis$$' and nobody can blame him for taking the bumper 2 year deal that we offered him, it's just been a bad piece of judgement on the club's part.

Have to say he doesn't help himself when he says things like he'll be rushing straight off from our match to go and watch Wigan though.

Surely the club will have developed a plan for when we sign our next star half back. After the last three signings, Dykes, Thorman and Long have been failures for one reason or another.
