| i enjoy beating rovers much more than beating anyone else it, i cant wait to get to work after a derby win to take the p'ss all day, losing is a b,stard tho. its great to beat the likes of saints too, but nothing (except trophy success) is as good as beating rovers.

I don't agree. The most memorable games in the last few seasons, generally, have been against Saints for me. The 27-26 at Knowsley Road in 2006 , the semi final against Saints, and the 2 games last season will live far longer in the memory for me than the 44-18 game, (other than Briscoe's try ). I always look for the Leeds games, home and away, first when the fixture list comes out. Derbies are to be endured rather than enjoyed and generally the standard of rugby is not great.

Aint that the truth!
Been to derbies when we were overwhelming favourites and lost and derbies back in the 80s when Rovers were crowned champions...and we won easily!
Winning a derby means you have the bragging rights and nothing more. Enjoy it because the next derby defeat is never far away.
Thats just how it is.

| It's not the be all and end all, but it's certainly a big game. Those who shrug their shoulders and try to be blaise about it are either fooling themselves or else they're fibbing. And all that "it's just another 2 pts" doesn't wash either (even though in cold hard cash terms that's what it is).
The difference between a derby and the rest of the season is banter & bragging rights. Beating a team who are sat 1st/2nd in the table always feels special and will get a crowd pumped up. But most of us hardly know any Wigan or Saints fans to crow about it in the days that follow. I'm pretty sure most people on here (at least the ones still living in Hull) know or work with plenty from the darkside. It's that banter & mickey taking (sometimes lighthearted, sometimes not so) before and after the Derby games that make them feel different.
Last season rovers were a mid table side, yet the atmosphere inside the KC, particularly in the July game was only bettered or matched by the Saints & Leeds games. Whatever anyone may say, another mid table team turning up at the KC doesn't generate anywhere near the same level of passion and fire as when our dear little neighbours come to play. Even back in the days when rovers were a NL side and we used to meet in pre-season it always brought out a healthy crowd to witness a one sided shellacking. I doubt it would happen if we played Dewsbury or Batley.
Personally, I always love to beat them. It certainly makes the following week at work a good deal more enjoyable. I think it goes back to my school days when my two best mates and I were virtually the only B&W in an east hull r&w school. I would agree with everyone else though, given a choice between winning two derbies or winning a trophy, the tin pot comes out on top each time.
They're special games, nerve-wracking but special. If we didn't have them this board would probably be only half its size.

| Whats it mean to beat the old enemy ?
Lack of Rovers shirts and an easier time walking through the streets.
Whats it mean to lose to the old enemy ?
A Headache.

well said, come derby time youll all be trying to wind your red n white mates up just like i will be winding my black n white mates up, all this "its just another 2 points" is coaches talk, as fans it should mean a bit more to us than that.

of course we have to play at a much higher level to beat the big sides but for me i enjoy beating rovers the most, its just because i know so many of their fans that i have a field day with them, the games which you mentioned and many more that i can think of will always be fondly remembered and winning the challenge cup was worth a hundred derbies but in general its them gits i like turning over the most

Coming from the supporter of a team whos fans have tried to justify Hulls play off exit with the statement "3-1 to the hull fc"

Fans with $hit for brains then.....doesnt matter what results are in the league...its the play-off matches that count.......id take 2 league defeats but then do you in play-offs and take out the big prize.

You do realise you are allowed to have a different opinion to other fans that support the same team don't you
