However were constantly asking him to be the main organizer in the team and he just isn't, hes exceptional off the back of a good scrum half and looked very good at the start of the season when long was playing. Our problem is we have no one that can replace longy and not having any replacement what so ever for a 33 yo scrum half is just stupid.'"
Not so sure I would use the word exceptional.

| We had threads like this in the closed season. Then everyone ate humble pie when he had some good games. Now the vultures are circling again. What is it with FC fans? Our players are either world-beaters when they have a good game or not SL standard when they have a bad one. Is having a balanced point of view just too much effort?

Most of us said in February that this season depended on us getting Long on the pitch, which we've failed to do. That would enable Horne to play his own game at 6. It's a function of Agar's squad composition that we have a 33 year old SH (an acknowledged risk) with no cover in this position and therefore Horne has to do a job he's tried and failed to do for a couple of years. Horne had strapping on his elbow and leg and got an eye injury during the game as well. The frustration with him is his form is so up and down - as you say he was outstanding in some matches earlier in the season but aspects of his game today - kicking in particular - were really poor.

As one of the teams highest profile, most experienced and highest paid players we should be expecting good performances week in week out.
his position is far to crucial just to accept a poor kicking game, lack of pace and lack of any attacking flair except a drop of the shoulder that is so obvious its telegraphed.
as a great servant to the club I want to to 'happen' for Richard, but the more and more I see of him post-diabetes/injury the more I just don't think its working.
as I said in another thread, if he is to stay beyond the end of next season, it needs to be as a utility squad player...not as a first team starter.

So you think he can tackle?? Glad to see you agreed with the rest of my post though!! Either way, it ends in one thing..... Horne is past it, I've not been a fan of his for a long time so don't buy into this fickle talk, some fans will just stick by him cos he's a Hull lad.
Answer me this... If he was a quota player would you all have the same opinion??

To be fair, he's had 2 very good games( Cas and Wigan)this season. The rest he has been average to poor.

That was part of my point. We're too quick to big someone up, and then turn on them when they have a bad game. The fact is Horne is neither a hero nor a villain - it's more complex.
Guess people just want simple answers, even where there are none.

| I've said for ages that he's useless, I'd love for Hull to get rid of him so we can sign a good (at the very least) 6. He's got to be one of the worst off halves in the league, offers nothing apart from having a pretty good grubber kick right on the line. Sick of seeing him use a drop off or just pass it to Manu.
Although, Hull won't get rid of him as he's Mr. Hull FC. Which is a shame for our great club as we'll never be a good attacking team again with him in one of the key positions add to the fact that he's probably our weak link in the team now.

| Horne will look much better when Long plays as he did earlier in the season. He cant run a team around the park, he cant organise, and he cant lay players off at the line but we already knew that.

I'm sure in that HullFC board room there's a 'Life On Mars/Ashes To Ashes' phenomenon going on...in there its still 2006 or 2007 and Hull are still a big club challenging for honours, and the fans are happy and everything's good and rosey in the garden.
I don't think I've ever seen the board so detached from the fans...I know their business is to put bums on seats so that 'positive PR' is needed..but the fans deserve a bit of honesty from time to time (as Adam Pearson has done by telling the City fans how bad their financial situation is, for example)
I'd have much more respect for the board if they came out and said 'things still aren't right, but we will do everything we can to make it work' it'd be better than the "our fans are so loyal, the best fans in rugby league" brown-nosing we get each week. Even the PA announcer is doing it before kickoff now.
I just don't think there's any passion at board level. As long as the cash cow is producing pound notes, and more importantly Leeds are winning SL then its all good in the board room. We deserve better.
