Plymouth is also located badly isn't it? as for no football tradition neither does milton keynes.
also consider the fact that city are playing in the most watched league in the world and that is constantly promoting the city worldwide. Fitzgibbon even watched city home games to remind him of the kc.

[quote="Wellsy13":1juz9zgo]To us REAL fans, there's no better feeling than winning competitions. Getting to a final is next. Then a top 6 finish or semi-final appearance. Then I suppose the derby counts as the most important league fixture.
Us real fans don't look over our shoulder at our neighbours and do whatever we can to get one over on them. We look at the bigger picture. And this is the reason why Rovers are and will forever be considered a small club. Because their fans and board would rather get one over on Hull FC above anything else.
Quite sad, really! [/quote:1juz9zgo]
SPOT ON!

Yes but I'm guessing Plymouth and MK had other things to their advantage. So? So are Burnley, Wigan, Stoke... very poor teams who, as a club size, don't deserve to be there but are there on merit. The fact is Hull has so many things to its disadvantage and I'm still to see one to its advantage apart from the ground been new however it has no culture it's just a soul less generic stadium like DW, Ricoh, Plymouth's, Doncasters.

TBH couldn't really care a less they have failed in there bid, and glad Kc staying as it is, but hell coming into Hull on a train is a disgrace you only have to look at the graffitti, state of the houses, etc to see it was never going to come off imo

| Real shame in my opinion, would have been good for the city if we got the WC.
Lots of revenue coming in, chance for Hull to have an international event, a chance to do some cleaning up work on the place, a chance to inspire the young and a chance to bring some employment opportunities to the area. I don't give a monkeys about the football, but its a shame for the city IMO.

| people are been foolish thinking any of these cities won't be ready should we get it. local councils/ the government/ the fa will spend hundreds of millions to get stadiums built in the cities they want, jsut look at all the new stadiums built for other recent world cups. the stadium is probably the least important part of any bid. the most important part been how close to london you are, the second been how easy are you to get to from london

Yes but is any of Hull? Our City centre is very average and compared to places like Liverpool, Leeds, Brum it's pale in comparison.

guessing you've only ever been to the city centres of these places then. leeds is the of the earth.
but yes hull does look pretty pants next to the rail line, but so does every other area next to a train track because people dont build things near train tracks. the journey along the humber is far more appealing than garforth and cross keys and in 5 years time a large chunk of hessle/ anlaby road is supposed to have been rebuilt

| All cities have their bad areas and good areas. Actually the area around the KC, been in park land is one of the best settings for a stadium in the country IMO. Also Hull does have its merits in the as well including the marina which would have been a great setting for pre-game entertainment. Having lived in 3 of the cities included in the list (I've never lived in Hull), and my job requires me to travel around the country IMO, depsite its bad press Hull is actually not a bad city. Bristol for example makes Hull look like realtive paradise in certain areas, and I include areas like Bramsholme, Orchard Park and such like in that.
I'm disapointted in the decision. I've been working with an architectural firm in London today whom are doing a lot of the regeneration stuff in Hull (most of which will be completed well before the WC in question) and some of the work been done is outstanding. Over the next decade, Hull is set to be one of the most invested cities in the country, the WC would have been a great showcase event for that.

| think hull has missed out due to the other yorkshire bids being selected. geography is probably the reason derby and leics have been rejected too - imo both leicester and derby have just as strong a case as nottingham

| We lost to Sheffield and Leeds SIMPLE get over it
But as I keep saying - one city will not get the funding and as we have a council ready to build 19,000 more seats quickly then I thinkwe have a great chance. £££££££ is in short supply and Dubai can't even tile a pool at the moment.
