| I think the difference between profit and loss for the club next year could be making the Top8 or not, if you finish in there you get 3 or 4 games against the big sides, where we'll get a good 2-3K walk-up fans at least paying say £18 a game (including concession rates) so that's a good £36K-54K a game as a very rough estimate. The club will also no doubt offer a 'mini pass' for those games which will bring the fans in. And while being on SKY affects the gates, our sponsors would be happy with a couple more big games on TV.
if we miss the 8 it'll be passholders only I'm afraid, with maybe a handful of Championship fans enjoying the novelty of playing an SL team.

If we scrape the 8 we probably have no chance of challenging for the 4 so walk up sales will be minimal. Lets face it if we are struggling on the field then games against the top 4 teams will not be something that inspires lapsed supporters to come, it may in fact encourage more to stay at home as they realise the season is already over with 7 games to play.

| As we proved at the end of last season we can beat the 'top teams' at home - quite comfortably. The question (as it has been for years) is can we produce a consistent level throughout the campaign and beat the teams that typically finish in the lower half of the table both home and away? It's not been the case for the two/three previous coaches and certainly wasn't last year either. The question is can the current coach do any better ? He certainly didn't last year.

Which top teams did we beat quite comfortably at the end of last season?
We played well against Saints but I'm not sure I would describe it as a comfortable win.
Against Leeds we were poop for the first two thirds of the match and snatched a win near the end.
Who else were you thinking of?
I agree with you though about consistency being the key.

I was referring to those two games. I thought we deserved to win both - maybe comfortable was a bit of an exaggeration.
I remember at the time some dismissed the wins as 'end of season' and 'nothing to play for'. Or claimed we were garbage
for most of the game. In the Leeds game we were poor with the ball (as were they) but our defence was excellent. It's
a thing with some Hull fans - preferring to wring our hands at the negatives and play down the positives. I don't see it as
much with fans of other teams.

He was right in the end: |
|
| Quote: Diogenes "Someone I know was a guest of the club at the Salford cup game and Pearson said that defeat mean't he would have to put another £50k into the club.
I very much doubt he is taking any money from the club because its making a loss. He is having to put money in. His income comes from his other business interests. He doesn't have a bottomless pit of cash, he's no Koukash. He bought the club with the intention of taking an income from it and selling it for a profit. He is a long way from doing either. I don't believe he'll walk because he will lose his investment but sooner or later he will run out of money to put in and will expect the club to be self-financing; reduced income means reduced spending.'"
You think he's not taking a salary from the club?
The old board was costing us £200kpa in salary, they have gone, he wont be taking all the £200k, but i'll bet you a wedge hes taking A salary.
When he had City he paid himself a footballers wage, the same as Theo Whitmore was on

If you're going down that route you need to include Trish Goldsmith's contribution too. She was the one who maximised the corporate side when we moved to the KC and got sponsors on board. Rule picked up the ball after she left (and fumbled it to a certain extent).
In theory I agree we need a dynamic person to big up the marketing of the club across the city and the county (and beyond).

Aren't our sales from merchandise that good?
I thought they would be good and up there with the best.
Usually have decent quality goods and plenty fans in the shops buying them when i go.
