Brilliantly encapsulates the feelings of the majority of City fans, the vast majority of other teams' fans, the FA, astounded onlookers and the national sporting media. Everyone, in fact, other than our own local media, the sycophants Humberside, shamefully led by Carpet Burns, and the Wail, with it's cowering Allam-champion Fewings.
Sorry, Mild Rover, I cannot agree with your sentiments on this. Mike Calvin of BT Sports should not have to be the spokesperson for every right-minded person not frightened out of their own opinion by Allam's threats. The leading spokespeople protecting our city's soccer heritage should be our local journalists. They have a duty to represent the people who read and listen to their respective media outlets. They should have no obligation to a bigoted bully who mistakes his own financial feathering for philanthropy, thereby believing it gives him carte blanche to destroy culture and acquire the city's legacy. When this is met with opposition he believes he has the right to force the issue anyway, by threats, smoke and mirrors, undemocratic ballots, sheer pig-headedness and embarrassing one-sided spats with the City council.
No, MR, what will happen afterwards should be the least of our local media representatives' considerations. They should he leading the way now, reflecting the mood and sentiments of the whole of the rest of us, both locally and nationally. Their time is now. Instead they cower and hold on to shirt tails, terrified of a camel's spit in the eye.
It is a sad day when the freedom of the press, local or otherwise, is compromised by the spectre of thinly disguised intimidation. If this is the case, and our local 'independent' journalists are compromised into protecting the whims of one manipulative individual rather than the interests of the rightuous majority by not reporting FAIRLY AND ACCURATELY and without being strong-armed, then we all may as well pack up and go home. Allam doesn't pay their wages, the Mail and the BBC do - there's no need to be afraid of not being able to put food on the table ffs. Lets not over-dramatize.
Today Mark Calvin has done Burns and co's job for them. They should hang their heads in shame - they're not fit for purpose as independent journalists. My opinion, of course.
