City (or Tigers) are punching above their weight in the Premier League, given the respective squads. With PL payments and possible parachute payments, it shouldn't take him too long to get his money back out

Quote: Erik the not red "Rather long I would think. Asian fans love winners - think Man U, Chelsea, Barcelona, etc. To think that corporate giants such as these would want to be associated with a battling team in only its 3rd season in the Premier League and risk upsetting the supporters of the bigger English and European clubs is somewhat optimistic.'"

Completely agree.

its the same way that if you go on holiday to Barcelona, if you want to go to a football ground you go round the Nou Camp, you don't go and visit Espanyol despite them being in the top flight too and having an impressive new ground. They don't have the history or success to attract foreign fans, or the big name players. And they have a short name! icon_smile.gif

If a Commercial department cant sell a club while they are in the biggest most lucrative, most watched league in he world then they is something wrong somewhere!

Quote: barham red "I' don't think I'd be overly bothered by the hull robins as a name, if it was guaranteed to give us massive investment and the success that went with it. if it was a complete rebranding as hull lions for example then I'd be anti. It's where my mind was with hull tigers, it does hold an element of tradition and the badge already says that. I'd be more worried if I was a Cardiff fan and had the colours, nickname changed.
Would City fans rather be called hull city in the lower leagues or worse or the tigers in the prem league
If Hull had been rebranded as the hull airlie birds it would have probably stuck.'"

Therein lay the biggest question. Why would changing the name GUARANTEE a massive investment?

The Badge of Hull City says "The Tigers", not simply Tigers.

And here in lay another conundrum, Hull City are already in the premier league, without having to change their name.

I did go to the Olympic Stadium and not the Nou Camp, when I was there. icon_biggrin.gif
More just because we'd gone to that end of the city, than to see a stadium. Nice views from up on the hill there.
I think Espanyol have moved into a new ground of their own since.

Quote: HDM "All money put in by the Allams is done via parent company Allamhouse Limited, which the accounts show as the ultimate controlling party of the club. As has been the case in the past, the latest £24m cash injection has been issued in the form of a loan, with interest chargeable at five per cent.'"

So Mr Allam may have money, but he's lending it, not giving it, but we knew that already.

and he'll call in his loans, +5%, from the parachute payments

could have got him a better interest rate myself, for less hassle!

absolutely, I'd help him in the way he's "helped" the City of Hull, and the way he "helped" the employee's of Ruscador.

I am surprised this thread has run so long after more relevant threads to hull fc have been locked in the past?

I only started it as a joke as well. However, I think we do need to keep a proper eye on Allam, SMC etc as it could have direct implications to us.

Although it has got a bit silly in parts, this is why it's still open
