I really like the look of Lovodua. He brings an energy to the team and always looks like he can make something happen. He needs to be on the field as much as possible. Whether that's hooker, loose forward or whatever. He was wasted today.

It sounded like Fash was having a mare, and we know Johnstone doesn't offer anything, with plan A not working with Fash, why wasn't Lovodua brought on at loose forward and Houghton who was performing left on at hooker, with Johnstone spelling him if needed?
That and Vulikijapani totally omitted, I'm scratching my head. That scoreline shows we were crying our for better defence out wide with many of the trys coming down the flanks.

I'll support him for now but there are shades of Peter Gentle who was another inexperienced head coach.

In the forwards though we're missing Taylor, Ma'u and Cator so with such a thin squad we just don't have many options. That said was Bowden just not selected? Thought he was OK last week.

Not selected for the inclusion of Johnstone.Doesnt make sense to me when you know you are going to play Evans for just 10 minutes.
Another naive error from this rookie coach

| I said earlier it would be a Hull FC thing to lose today.... meaning it would also be a Hull FC thing to go to Leeds and win on Thursday. Can't personally see it but once again, I also wouldn't be surprised if it happens.

I'm not following you? We had Sao, Satae, Evans and Brown.
Lovodua played loose forward recently and played very well, against Wakefield if I remember. I'm saying if Fash was playing poorly why was Lovodua left on the bench till the 52nd minute?
Hodgson brought on the much lesser effective Johnstone for Fash instead. I think Hodgsons got misguided loyalty to some ayers or he's for some reason just not starting with his most effective and inform team.
He could of also used Lane at loose forward and Lovodua at second row as he played against Salford, it just doesn't make sense having him on the bench or leaving him in the bench for that long.
He's a good player use him, instead of Fash or Johnstone simple.

| Quote: Dave K. "I think we will finish around 7th/8th, where I predicted at the start of the year.
No consistency, weak mentally and awful discipline.
Dumbest team in the league, can't even count how many players are in the scrum.(2nd time this year)
Rely to much on Connor, who when he has a bad game or is a bit off like today, we have no other threat.
Hodgsons decision to leave Lovodua on the bench for 50 minutes and play Johnstone is laughable, he offers absolutely nothing to the team, one of the least effective SL players I've seen, saying that Reynolds isn't far off that either.'"
still think Purtill is pulling the strings where Johnstones selection is concerned
Reynolds needs a controlling halfback with him.Personally dont rate him but he will be better with Connor in the halves
Thinks Hodgson will get the message now about moving Connor.he should now realise McNamara is not a half back

| Just really thought Hodgson got a lot wrong today especially the bench and the poor use of it. We ended up with just Sao & Fash at the end with Satae, Evans & Brown all sat. Thought the non selection of Mitch was another mistake as his defence and strength is much better than Shauls plus think he also has more pace. Our defence and line speed was so slow and lazy today and on a small pitch like Cas it gifted them so much yardage without having to work for it and the amount of off loads we let them make was a joke. In the end Cas could afford to just Chuck it at will as even when if went to ground we had no one to pressure or challenge for the ball.
We played panic rugby from the opening score off a huge error and no one on the field took control and calmed things down.
I really struggled to work out what the actual game plan was today as we were just so erratic. We allowed Cas to just roll down the pitch at will and didn’t attempt to turn their defence round enough and when we did our chase was pathetic.
Even when we managed to start getting out the hole we’d dug for ourselves to get back in the game we switched off at each restart and gifted Cas another score.

| Hodgson is not a good coach. No way on earth does he get another contract.

| McIntosh likely to still be out on Thursday and also Wynne likely to be out. Wouldn't be surprised if Houghton picks up a ban.
We will never get even close to a full strength team this year.

Fash had a good game. Mitch should have started, Connor was bang average.
