| Quote: ccs "Well, there must be at least one person who is interested, so here goes.
Between 31st August 1963 and February 8th 1964, we lost 21 games and won just one, with a losing run of 13 games.
Oddly, the A team had a run of 13 games undefeated during the same period.
Teams for the derby on 27th March 1964 were....
Keegan, Rosenburg, Stocks, Carmichael, Doyle-Davison, Mountain, Finn, Casey, McGlone, Sykes, Neale, Broom, Johnson.
Kellett, Paul, Major, Moor, Blackmore, Burwell, Elliott, Tyson, Flanagan, Taylor, Palmer, Clark, Poole.
British Railways were running an excursion to Keighley for the next game, costing 13/6 or 68p.'"
Excellent posting.

| The Club historian has already tried to put the media right but to no avail apparently 'don't let the truth get in the way of a good story' this is what was included in last Saturdays Dentist Diary
Now for a case of ‘You’ve heard it from the rest now hear it from the best’ and indeed ‘Don’t believe the Hype’. Lately much has been made of that ‘record breaking run’ of defeats billed as “The worst losing run in the History of the Club” in all the local and RL papers. However, bad though our run is, all that, I’m told, is a fallacy for this ISN’T the longest losing run in Hull FC’s long and eventful history. Bill Dalton, the bloke everyone should go to before they start spouting that sort of rhetoric, has this week been politely putting everyone right.
There is nothing the official Hull FC historian doesn’t know about the Club, I’ve been privy to his amazing records and he’s helped me so much over the years. This week he contacted me and said, “With regard to the comments in the Mail recently that stated, ‘a current run of 10 consecutive defeats is also the club's worst in its 153-year history’ Well it isn't. The team lost 13 consecutive games from 31 August 1963 to 23 November 1963. In addition, a combined Hull-Rovers XIII lost 10-23 to Australia during that period. On 30th November Hull managed a rare win away at Keighley, before the club then lost a further 8 consecutive matches. They really were bad times. I know because I was there at every one of those games”. And so he was, so well done Bill Dalton!!

Wasn't that during our Grand Final season in 2006? Think we win 13 on the bounce before losing to Harlequins away.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |

I would have thought that might be the 1978/79 season

Was working in London for most of 1963 so only saw a couple of Hull matches. Did see Australia play 3 matches though including the combined Hull-Rovers game and the opening 2 ashes matches. First was a night match at Wembley when Great Britain were hammered in front of a crowd less than 14,000 and the series lost in the next at Swinton when Australia racked up 50 points. Certainly the best Aus. team I saw play in England.

League wise I would think that it would likely be 78/79 season, 26 games undefeated.

Although we famously won all 26 league games that season we didn't win more than nine games in a row due to Cup defeats and the loss to the Australian tourists. We won the final nine games of the season but lost the first game the following season.
We only lost five times in total in 1978-79 plus one draw and the only sides to defeat us were Australia, Bradford (three times plus the draw) and St Helens. Bradford knocked us out of the Yorkshire Cup, John Player Trophy and the Challenge Cup whilst Saints knocked us out of the BBC Floodlit Trophy. All four cup defeats were by fewer than nine points.

| Not pleased that Manu is now going to play for Tonga in 2 weeks time, after the amount of games he missed would rather he was resting.
Also Sam Burgess pulled out the England squad, hope they dont convince Taylor to play for the same reason.

Bit fishy that about Manu.
Sounds like he is using this to pay for his off season trip back home

You're a proper dingbat.
Perhaps he's just a proud Tongan who wants to Captain his progressing country against the current World Champions?
