Quote: Offy "for me it would have to be Powell from Castleford. look at some players he has signed, d.solomona, gale, finn etc. if we'd have signed those, the fans would be in uproar. yet look at how Castleford have played since he took over, look at their league positions. he gets the very best out of players.

despite losing sneyd, clark, huby chase huaraki etc he's had to rebuild the Castleford squad, most thought theyd struggle with the calibre of players leaving, yet they're still a top 4 side.

they play entertaining rugby, they win close games, compete in nearly all games, but to look at their squad you wouldn't think theyd be any good (no offense to Castleford players)

no he hasn't won anything, and yes he had a torrid time at leeds. but he's gone down, learnt his trade and now look at what he's doing with Castleford. I wont be long before one of the top teams come calling for him, so for me, we need to get in and get him now...could use the money we will be saving with this academy merger cr@p to get him.

maybe then, AP will see his money time and effort has been put to good use'"

Saved me the time writing this.
The transfer fee we get from Lineham, should be used to try to buy out Powell's contract.
We have paid transfer fees for players and it hasn't gone tremendously well, this time we need to pay for a good coach.
Also let him look at the coaching system from top to bottom and implement what changes he feels he needs to turn this sinking ship around.

Agree with this. We can't just keep replacing the head coach and reshuffling the backroom staff around (i.e. Last). If and when the next coach comes in they should be allowed to decide who stays and who goes.

I said last season Saints should go for Rowley. Not saying Cunningham done a bad job but with Leigh the 'coaching' really stands out a mile.

Would take Brian smith in a heartbeat at the moment.

We won't get powell as much as I would love him to come. He'll end up at one of wire, wigan, leeds or saints in the next 18 months. For me it has to be an experienced aussie coach to come in not knowing anyone and implement the changes the club needs in order to progress

The first thing this club needs is for Pearson to sell up and we get an owner whom isn't a clueless bi-polar paranoid megalomaniac. The new owner can then sack Radford as clearly AP isn't going to, I'm sure Radford must have something on him as there's really no logical reason to keep him on.

Then I'd get Clive Woodward on board and only after he'd spent time analysing all the shiate at the club from top to bottom consider what coach we should get plus other professionals from whichever sport, not just RL.
I'd also downgrade all the current directors, they are yet another aspect of the club that is on the cheap, with next to zero experience outside the club, aren't particularly qualified and quantifying them as 'directors' is an insult to fans intelligence.

Oh and Powell isn't going anywhere even IF we waved a shed load of money at him which AP won't.

Quite honestly re appointing Richard Agar would be an ambitious long term appointment compared to Radford, why Adam Pearson is so blinkered I'm not sure, even more baffling is why he was so ruthless with Gentle.

Although not ideal even if we could only afford to appoint Horne it would be such a forward thinking move compared to what we have now, I'm sure he wouldn't purposely try to force out the best young players at the club and maybe even give a few a bit more game time, and I'm sure the attacking players will be able to play with more freedom, the senior members of the squad would maybe have to step up and help out, but apparently they did this when we played our only bit of decent rugby while Radford has been in charge.

Anyone who says they wouldn't take Brian Smith simply deserves to watch the dross being served up now, but I expect he'd be out of our price range.

I still think Agar is worst than Radford.

The fact that this is subject to debate shows what a mess we are currently in regarding our head coach. I honestly don't know who I'd rather have out of the two of them.

It is certainly close, Radford recruitment is better (just the fact that we have signed some halfbacks) and I think we do play better rugby under Radford (Goes back to the halfs again).

Agar failed to make the top 8 in his first two seasons, lets hope Radford does better than that.

All men are created equal, some work harder in preseason. -[i:1c45x4hd]Emmitt Smith[/i:1c45x4hd]:

Is Radford just Agar with a bigger chequebook though?

Wouldn't say so, the club still spent up to full cap when Agar was in charge. Paid the fee for Westy while he was in charge too didn't we?

Agar took us to Wembley in his first part season but our league form was dire. His first full season was dreadful, but his second full season was actually a good year. Perhaps our best since 2007. Ironically it was Radford that cost us a top 4 finish that year. 2011 was bang average but he did at least make the playoffs.

I wouldn't fancy either in charge, but if it had to be one or the other it would be Agar every time.
