| Quote: arliebird "if someone like batley with no effence intended was champions and was to come up to super league they would struggle hugley and it woudnt be great for the sport. now maybe you could have promotion and relegation with a minimum standards rule?'"
Why would it? If they were consistantly better than the likes of Widnes/Leigh/Fax what right does anyone have to say they shouldn't take their place? If they are the champions would they struggle less than any of the others on any given matchday?
I still don't see that Wakey dropping to the championship is a gimme. If we did go to 15 (or even 16 clubs as per the old 1st division) then I'd still be wanting top 8 but with a straight knock out 1v8 2v7 3v6 4v5, that gives you three weeks at the end of the season. I'd also want to see more prestige put on the 'champions' aka 'league leaders', but that will never happen in a million years.
And yes promotion and relegation does add more incentive each and every season not just for those wanting to get up but makes it important for the relegation threatened teams too.

Agreed, and I like the idea you and spackler have sorted. Gets my vote.

| Are they definatley binning 2 teams off?
I always said they'd make it a 16 team competition.

| Been confirmed that it will stay with 14 teams on Sky Sports News, personally I think that promotion/relegation will not come back until we are able to have the Championship as a full time division (which will probably never happen). If we could have 2 full time division the gap in quality should lessen allowing promoted teams a better chance of surviving in the SL.
Whilst I think that having no P/L is a bit harsh on teams like Fev who will probably win the league again but havent got a chance of meeting the criteria yet, it does help with the youth development in some teams, if you look at Cas there youth development has been good but if P/L was still in place would they have stayed with these players when they went on their losing streak or would they have opted for signing old, experienced players to help them out of their slump?

Yes,instead of allowing us to blood and develop young players and give them a chance, all we've done is go backwards as a club while we attempt to blood and develop a coach at the cost of everything else. It clearly isn't working but nobody at the top wants or is willing to admit they've knacked up.

This is why this franchise system is a complete farce, no one knows what the criteria is, its a joke, a team like Hudds who are currently riding high in SL sholud be slung out due to low crowds! If that happended the sport would be looked upon as an even bigger joke than it is already.
The only fair way is one up one down, who ever finishes top replaces whoever finishes bottom, simple, or even a 2 game play off between top and bottom home and away, winner stays up or comes up, that would fair and pretty exciting too.

That's the problem we have.
I can't see P+R returning until they is two fully functionally full time leagues. I'm not a fan of extending the league at the moment, I think we play enough games as it is and players who are called up for internationals very rarely get an off season. Which IMO is no good in helping players improve.
I'd be in favor of two ten full time leagues for the time being with the view to adding to them over a period of time.

that's about the biggest load of tosh I've read in a while, 10 team SL would mean a huge Sky reduction

no, we kick out Wakey this season and let Widnes in, in 3 years we kick out whoever hasn't kept their promises (Cas?) and promote Halifaax (if they stay in the position they are in), kicking out KR, Quins and Crusaders is just the action of a flat capper with even chips.

| I would have liked to have seen fax in. Nice stadium and massive latent support. they were very well supported in the late 80's/early 90's when they had a bit of success. Much more potential than wakey.
Personally I'd kick rovers out but that's just because I don't like them
