It was a massive hit to be fair. O'Meley was calling out Netherton all through that set of 6. I can only imagine that Netherton had done something to him in the scuffle. To Nethertons credit he was happy to oblige, although he did come off second best!
The most noticeable thing for me though was that in Hulls next set of 6 O'Meley didnt give Netherton the chance for a square up and didnt even go near the ball.
I actually thought that he had taken over Gleesons right centre spot.

| We have no kicking game (thanks Peter Sharp) and this has not being addressed for 4 maybe 5 seasons. We are another prop too short, when O'Meley goes off they is a lack of go forward. All the players as a team are just not quick enough nor smart enough.
We keep signing 30+ players, no youth coming through. FFS Rule wake up and smell the coffee. Act now or we'll be spending another 4 seasons trying to rectify this clowns mess.

You can't say that. Don't forget that prior to losing to Huddersfield and Rovers we were on an amazing unbeaten run which included victories over Oldham, Rovers, Widnes and Salford (yes, we beat Warrington and fair play to the team that day). Don't forget as well that we squandered an 18 nil lead against Saints' reserves as part of that brilliant run of results!!!

I don't need to be told that unlike most FC fans I aint bought that easily.
95% of posters on here will call for Agar out when we lose and crawl back into there cave when we win. For the remainder of his tenure thats how it will always be.
We are the same with players, we have basically battered all confidence out of players like Sharp (who gets blamed for Danny Tickle not leading a sliding defense ) and previous seasons we had Motu Tony, Blacklock and Sing. Memories of fans jeering Motu Tony as a bomb went upto him, because that will help the situation won't it!
On the flip side though they is players who can't do any wrong, Horne (waste of a pivotal spot), Briscoe (probably on par with Sharp for catches under the high ball), Fitzgibbon ( Great defender but slows down our attack far too often, they is a reason he was at the bottom of the NRL before he came) and we could go on to be fair.
I mean I am off the opinion that our squad on paper isn't as great as people think and with a better coach we would only be marginally better. I think everything about this club over the last few seasons has just gone completely. FC home games ain't what they used to be, all we need is to go 6-0 down and the place becomes a funeral. This probably has some sort of effect on the team as the crowd start to get on there backs.
However as we know its not the fans total fault why the club is so crap on the pitch, even on games were we have played well we have never taken a side to the cleaners. We are not ruthless enough as we rarely score over 40 points and I can't even remember the last time we scored 50+ in a SL game. Every signing we get is never one for the future and its always some kind of utility as opposed to specialists. On the youth front not a lot seems to come through upto into first team, were as other clubs are bringing them through the ranks for fun.
Every aspect of this club is a shambles at the moment, from the way we play to the signings we make to the way the supporters get behind the team (although the fans are not to blame for the rise of the situation just feel in certain circumstances we have not helped). The less said about appointing head coaches and back room staff the better.
I'm quite embarrassed to be an FC fan at the moment.

Harsh. There's plenty more than 5% of posters who've been against him since he was appointed and didn't change their minds when we had our little successful run.

I think that the squad as it stands now would move from struggling to reach the 8 to top 6 contenders under a decent coach. To step up to top 4 or actual silverware we need some quality signings in key positions - notably Scrum Half.
The crowd response is, IMO, a result of our pi$$-poor form over the last few seasons. Nobody has any confidence that we will win a tightly contested game or reverse even a 6-point deficit. The fans have had the support beaten out of them.

5 years ago IIRC. That's just plain diabolical.

Not every aspect. The infuriating thing is that the non-playing side of the club is run very well. If only we could take advantage of that and sort out the shambles on the pitch.

I'm never embarrassed by supporting my club. Our performances can be embarrassing though.

I think 95% is a bit high tbh mate, plenty of fans have kept the same opinion regarding Agar but just enjoyed a run of victories over easter. The club in the main is run well, certainly from a business perspective but results on the pitch have been unaccetpable in recent years.
I think this squad under say, Noble, would be firmly in the top 6 and on the fringes of the top four. However, we won't be able to compete for silverware until we get a dominant scrum half who can organise us better and most importantly kick well. I feel the team the sqaud is in decent shape and with the right structure we have youngsters who could come in and make their mark.
Right now it's a free for all with no structure and no chance of a youngster coming in and getting a shot, something has to change but only dropping out of the 8 and a CC loss to Leeds will even start to make the board think. If we want him gone we have to accept finishing outside the eight is probably the only way it will happen.

I wouldn't be so sure of that, after the easter weekend a lot of the fans seemed a lot more optimistic even going as far as to saying Obst and gleeson were the steals of the season.
Quote: Kosh "I think that the squad as it stands now would move from struggling to reach the 8 to top 6 contenders under a decent coach. To step up to top 4 or actual silverware we need some quality signings in key positions - notably Scrum Half.'"
Full back, Stand off, Scrum Half and Prop are all areas I would consider need huge investment.
Quote: Kosh "The crowd response is, IMO, a result of our pi$$-poor form over the last few seasons. Nobody has any confidence that we will win a tightly contested game or reverse even a 6-point deficit. The fans have had the support beaten out of them. '"
I'm not 100% sure on that. Its a bit like a chicken and egg scenario, you need the crowd behind to help lift you but you need the players to do some business on the pitch to get the crowd behind you. I remember times like Quins away though in 2006, we had just gone unbeaten 13 games (not sure on actual number) and when we lost to quins the players were booed off. Again I point to certain jeering when Motu Tony was receiving kicks and now it seems Sharp is the latest player to endure this treatment. I agree supporters would be a lot better if we were playing better but as a kid my dad would tell me stories of how teams would fear playing the boulevard due to the atmosphere it would create. These days we go 6/12 - 0 down at home and its more then likely game over because understandably so the supporters start to get on the teams back.
Quote: Kosh "5 years ago IIRC. That's just plain diabolical.'"
Agreed.
You would hope part of that would be down to the SL competition supposedley getting stronger, then you realise Wakefield have posted 50 this year.
Quote: Kosh "Not every aspect. The infuriating thing is that the non-playing side of the club is run very well. If only we could take advantage of that and sort out the shambles on the pitch.'"
The non playing side is only run well financially, the overall decisions regarding signings and coaching appointments is pretty poor. I wonder how much the club has saved due to low key coaching appointments and some seasons no real star players. Saying that we have spent a bit on transfers but again just not on the right personal.
Quote: Kosh "I'm never embarrassed by supporting my club. Our performances can be embarrassing though.'"
Each to there own on that one, but the last thing I am at the moment is proud.

Obviously just read so much of the post, I just said we haven't helped but no way are we to blame for the whole situation we find ourselves in.

I do see what you're getting at, but (again IMO) there's a difference between getting behind a team who are struggling but playing at their best and getting behind a team who are struggling because they're playing well below their best. The crowd is supposed to be the 18th man but over the last few seasons it's felt more like they've been asked to be one of the 17 - if you get my drift.

I count the signings/coaching as part of the on-field side of the club, so we're actually in agreement here.

There's a lot of ground between proud and embarrassed. I'm lurking somewhere in there.
