| Quote: ccs "Hopefully people won't start demanding their money back if games get cancelled rather than postponed.
You're no worse off financially if you miss games, but clubs could take a massive hit if this wretched virus lasts well into the summer.
I suppose sponsors may take a different view, especially if their companies are struggling as a result.'"
Would think clubs that don't have a benefactor are most exposed. Magic weekend shirts probably on order too but high likelihood of not going ahead could be costly?

| If the virus peaks in the UK in ten weeks or so which is the approximation I've seen then we are talking no games until June, maybe later. This is a huge hit for clubs and unfortunately some may go under.
As for the Super League as a competition, who knows. Would the 'loop' fixtures be scrapped meaning half a dozen fewer games but that would still mean two games a week at times unless the Ashes series is cancelled and the season extended - but can Old Trafford be rebooked for a date in November or December? Same could be said for Wembley and the Cup final. On the other hand games might resume in a couple of weeks but played behind closed doors.
There are far more serious issues of course for the country but Super League and the RFL have a major headache.

| A big meeting tomorrow it seems. Clubs with multimillionaire backers like Moran are obviously better shielded than those like us who rely on fans and sponsors. It must be a concern when we have already said we are spending big this year yet any potential upsides like a cup run, on the day gate receipts and merchandise could be significantly compromised.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| Wakefield chairman reckons it would cost them £60K to play behind closed doors. - Unsustainable.
That's just 3000 paying customers on the day, excluding all the normal expenses on top.
... if games are cancelled for 8 weeks, that's around half a million per club for SL alone.
Anyone got £6 million to spare?

Presumably match tickets sold e.g.Magic and the Derby would have to be refunded.

It's up to each individual, if everybody wants their money back then it'll make life even more difficult for clubs.
I personally wouldn't want a refund, it's easy to say as I'm not going to either game, but if the season ended today, I wouldn't demand a refund on my season pass.

I definitely wouldn't either in terms of season pass. Matchday tickets for away games might be viewed differently.

| Token mention of coming week's scheduled games at the end of Cas v Saints but underlying tone that unlikely to go ahead.

| It is a worrying time for many sports and businesses not just RL. The problem being there differing news in the media about what is happening, what to do etc.
Hopefully as a club Adam careful management will see us safely through. I feel we are in a much better position than some clubs and the high membership number will of course help in the short term. As for long term who knows as difficult to predict or say for certainty how long this may go in for.

I do hope so. I am concerned that we had spent very big this year for probably a zero return. Other clubs like Huddersfield are arguably better insulated than us despite much lower crowds as the have Davy to make up any income shortfall. A very big day tomorrow.

| .... makes you wonder (well me, anyway) whether Mr Allam will demand his match day rental, game or no game.
(He could easily claim that city were keeping up payments for their postponed matches.)

Thanks for that. Good business model that you have I guess, ground ownership, decent attendances and 2 millionaires to smooth over any unexpected income gaps.
