| People are quick to forget that just a few years ago people were saying the same things about the Gale signing as we are Hardaker now. Experienced, better than what we’ve got, proven winner etc. For me on a two year deal it’s just a poor signing and smacks of some of the signings we made at the end of the Hetherington era. If he didn’t sign for us I could have easily seen him sign for a championship side, and possibly the same can be said for Briscoe, Holmes and Chamberlain. Abdull on a big 3 year deal I’d just class as a huge gamble that could be a brilliant move or leave us writing off huge chunks of the season. I can’t have a strong opinion either way.
Even the Aussie signings, now I’d be much more willing to trust someone like Cartwright with an input to these signings so am actually quite optimistic, but they really could go either way. Rimbu and Stewart (I know it’s not happening now) have a few nice YouTube clips, but so did Pele, Okunbor, Nu Brown and Lovadua.
I see little bits of optimism that the club is making some progress especially off the field, but until we bring in some real quality match winners I can understand the pessimism. Maybe they’re still confident of not being relegated in 2025 either, but I fear for the club if it’s another potential wooden spoon season.

Sooner the better
Whilst I think they are going over the top with their negativity, as I don't think the signings are as bad as they are making out, I still think it's important that we sign at least two exciting signings, Cartwright, Abdul and Rimbu aren't in that category.
A couple of weeks ago the HDM ran an article saying they expected 2 more top end signings, this will have come from the club, so hopefully it will still happen.
Add in 3 more maybe 4 depending on walker, with two of them being top end players (SL standard) and we should be fighting for 6th position.
People forgetting new coaches and off the field staff coming in too, make not make a difference, but you would be suprised if it didn't based on the last 2 years of coaching.

| If Cartwright is as good as we hope he will make a massive difference.
See Peters at Rovers and Flanagan at SGI. Also Wests struggling with a rookie Marshall in charge

People also forget that we have been running on a shoestring until a couple of months ago, any top SL players will have been signed up well before our investment came in (Johnstone, McMeeken etc...) so we're having to make kind of stop gap signings until we can recruit some real quality, but those signings (Hardaker, Holmes and even Briscoe to an extent) aren't going to relocate halfway across the country for a year, so we're stuck between a rock and a hard place this year.
It seems the club can't win with some people, they'll moan if things stay the same but then will moan when the club try and make changes. We're not going to be able to overhaul everything in half a year, we're moving in the right direction tying our youth down looking towards the future. The alternative is panic signings looking for a quick fix which we know from experience doesn't work.

The part in bold for me is exactly how I see it, then add in the mess we were in prior to Mylers arrival who has actually started the process of undoing the mess and getting the club/playing group back on a solid foundation to be able to build from. I'm pretty sure there will be certain improvement targets set that have to be met next season and as much as I hate to say it, realistically next season is pretty much a transitional year. As long as we see significant and structured improvement next year then I will accept things, as I'd rather see real structured improvement/rebuilding than a plan of sign some top players in the hope they'll improve things alone. I think the delay in getting what the club felt was the right Head Coach in Cartwright may not have helped in terms of already being behind the 8 ball for signings for 2025, but hopefully his impact will prove to be significant and outweigh that moving forward.

Agree 100% next year we need to be targeting around 8th place and maybe a lucky draw for a decent cup run. Myler has done the right thing in waiting to get the right coach in especially after getting linked with some very uninspiring options (McDermott, Grix, Lam etc..) I think we have to hope Cartwright can install some steel and resolve in the squad and improve what we've got here, having Asiatas leadership around the squad will also have a big impact.

| Can't see why people can't understand this, they want Myler to ign top class domestic signings despite coming after most players where signed by other clubs.
The key this year is getting domestic players better than with have, which we have done and having top class overseas player, who we get value from.
I'd hoped the days of signing unknown and risky quota players where gone, both Stewert and Rimbu are very big gambles, neither played top level rugby before.
How we use our potential last quota spots is massive.

| I'm told that the first dictat from our new coach has been made loud and clear in that any new signing has to be willing to live no further than 20 minutes drive from the training ground!

Craig Lingard has alluded to this in his press conference this week. Saying how the UK market in terms of signings for next season is pretty much done and dusted.

| Wouldn't be shocked if it was Cartwright who called for the fitness testing which the players went through last week.

I think that the criticism is stupid as many posters have said the cash only became available when all the dealing had been done. The signings that have been made are all ok and will provide a more competitive squad than this year. We can then start a higher level of recruiting next season.I wish people would be more patient and realistic. I think that myler has done a great job in the limited time and limited players available. Give the bloke a chance

I also think Myler is also doing a good job. We're heading in the right direction but we are not going to become world beaters overnight.
Asisata aside our recruitment so far has been average but it is still an improvement on this season's squad.
It's gradual baby steps unfortunately, we're starting at the bottom and hopefully can only head upwards.
We all wish we were competing at the top of the table and in finals but we're a few seasons away from that whilst we repair the rot inside.
As long as there is an improvement year on year, patience is key.
