| Whilst the game had become quite formulaic in recent times, and I thought I was losing interest in the game because of it, I now realise this touch rugby throw it anywhere rugby is worse. It’s the equivalent of a sugar rush. Initially enjoyable but ultimately unsatisfying.
Admittedly the Dobbins look adventurous, but it’s not sustainable, and they’ll crash and burn at some point. To be fair though you would rather watch them than us as an outsider, under the games present guise.
At the end of the day, we’re just playing a series of exhibition games to protect the TV deal.

Indeed.
I'm of course a little biased but [isome[/i people might say that their 'throw it about a bit" policy isn't working, given the fact they are bottom with two wins from ten.

| I agree, they are playing some great rugby, but that's easy when you are playing in a nothing to lose game against the like of Saints or Wigan, be interested to see if they have the mentality to tough out a game against the likes of Hudds or Wakey. Unless you start winning regularly the fans will get fed up of losing despite throwing the ball about.

You could also argue that not having one of the stronger squads, TS is trying to play to their tactical strengths.
They are entertaining to watch, beat Wigan and narrowly lost to Saints.
Could we say any of the above about us currently?

| Their throw it about style is bringing them closer to other teams with better squads. If they didnt do this theyed be getting hammered 50-0 every week so it is working. Imagine if we could do this too with (on paper) a much superior team - we'd be magnificent. But no were still playing boring forward driven percentage rugby - were syill clueless with ball in hand most of the time

if you support a club why would fans get fed up if their team is giving its all and playing to its strengths thats all any fan can ask, quite simply finances usually dictate where the silverwear goes in superleague with odd exception , make the most of it while you have a decent coach salford a good example, its the bigger clubs with the bigger expectations whos fans get fed up a lot earlier than ours

I'm not even sure our players are capable of playing expansive rugby, they've had drudgery of one out tactics instilled in them for so long. Maybe the shackles of a coach that is tied to the previous incumbent need to be broken for us to have any chance of adapting to the way the sport is being played.

Well they were also well beaten by Saints a couple of weeks ago, hammered by Warrington in August and pre-lockdown were comfortably beaten by Wigan, Cas and Huddersfield as well as suffering a fifty point hammering by a Leeds we'd outplayed a fortnight before. Apart from Wigan last week their only win was on the opening weekend against Wakefield who are the other club with only two wins this season.
But, hey, yes, entertaining rugby

Well I'll let you crow if it makes you feel better.
Our season is hardly one to boast about either though is it.

I'm not boasting about our season. I've done pretty much the opposite on a regular basis.
What I'm saying is that all these Hull supporters waxing lyrical about the beautiful rugby league that Rovers are apparently playing should remember that they are bottom of the league and by the season's end will probably have only avoided relegation because of Toronto's withdrawal.

The difference is we are supposed to have a squad assembled to challenge for trophies. Whereas theirs wouldn't stand out in the championship. They arent going to be a playoff team because the players just arent good enough. But Smith has them all working hard, expressing themselves and enjoying their rugby. We are doing none of those things.

No it wasnt - it was a million miles away and whilst people like yourself are happy with us to just muddle on scraping wins against teams like Wakefield[size others like myself are not happy[/size with it. Beginning of this year Pearson reckoned we might win the GF this year with his heavy investment etc - were currently a bottom half of the table side and performances are decent in small patches, hopeless at times but generally a long way away from being GF winning quality'"
