Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |

Little chance of that.

I'd say it was more 2018/19 recruitment cycle that spelled the end. Kept Mini and Manu probably a season too long. Not replacing Ellis or Watts too.

I'll give you Ellis, but we didn't even try. I think we brought in Paea, Miloudi and Faraimo in 18.
Wigan brought back Bateman as O’Loughlins replacement

I honestly don’t understand the bagging of Masi. He literally hasn’t played all season, won’t be a big earner, and was in the England Knights squad before his injuries started.
If he played this year and was crap, I’d get it. I think it’s harsh.

Not so easy now, new landlords increasing the rent, and huge losses.

When we signed Kelly it was a bit of gamble at the time as we know due to the issues surrounding him at the time with Rovers. Griffin came from a club that had struggled for a while and only just escaped relegation in MPG and Connor was a young raw talent. In all fairness to them at the time they weren't players you'd class as top drawer. Even to this day some still bag Griff and Connor.
Ellis we were never going to be able to replace as he is a once in a generation player. We let go our best and SL's best forward at the time and never really replaced him though.
We also signed a season or so later players such as Langtree, Nzoungou, Miloudi, Dawson-Jones etc.
Since the signings of Pritchard, Manu, Fonua and Tuimavave our signings compared to the players that have left I would certainly argue have not improved us more that we've stood still or gone backwards a little. SInce 2016 the game has changed and moved on yet we stuck to to same mould and didn't move or adapt with the times. Even now we still try and flog an aging Houghton for 80mins every game which offers us very little and we don't even have a player capable of replacing him or even just to improving things in a game.
Since 2016 season we have fallen further behind to clubs at the top and been caught up and past by a number of clubs that were below us.

| Spot on Chris 71. Nail on the head.
2016 was an inspired year for recruitment, in retrospect. Motu Tony no doubt helped in that.
Connor looks inspired now, but many questioned it at the time. For every Connor there’s been a Miloudi which didn’t quite work out.
Something needs to change now in my opinion, even if we have to take a step back for a year or two. This malaise has gone on too long now.

Hull v Leeds provided a fabulous entertaining spectacle, I wasn’t expecting to win, but we certainly gave everything in this game, why not in other matches who knows.
But we were cruelly dealt with by our friend Ben Thaler, even after Hicks sent the decision up as a try, Ben found numerous angles to explore a way of denying us, and he reversed the try decision, which I found difficult to understand.
A heartbreaking controversial decision which ultimately left us on our knees at the end.
This game was more like the Hull FC I have been brought up on, superb effort, and leaving nothing out on the park.
Leeds had the edge with their two genuine hookers, and their young starlets Broadbent, and Newman proved deadly strike.
But the bitter taste of being unfairly treated by a video referee, is proving difficult to forget.'"
You live in cuckoo land , Leeds did not have a half back when Lui went off . If Connor had played for Leeds it would have been an avalanche

It was a knock on nothing poor about the decision as a neutral.

Fair assessment I thought, three matches played, one apiece, and a golden point decider.

Sent up as a try mate, those decisions usually go with the refs call.

Not sure why ploinerrhino seesm to think you live in cuckoo land as it was definitely a fair assessment of the game. We tried to hold out in the 2nd half rather than play for the win and not for the first time it bit us. It was two poor teams with a host of players missing for each side yet had that try not been overuled by Thaler then it put the game further away from Leeds.

It was put up as a try and there was nothing in the replays for Thaler to over rule the onfield decision if anything it showed the ball going backwards. Unless you can clearly say 100% and without doubt it went forward? Which you can't as there is no conclusive evidence on the replays so the onfield decision should have stood, but its not the first time Thaler has over ruled on field decisions for us without conclusive evidence.
