Quote: knockersbumpMKII "Thompson has bot really had any regular game time so think unfair to say he hasn't 'developed', he's done well with the very limited chances he's had.

Radford had a couple of opportunities to make more changes in the forwards and didn't, and then we lost as those on the field were knackered and not having a rest into the following week.
Houghton has been immense but that first missed tackle with Ellis bearing in mind that was only 7 minutes in were the signs of players really frazzled, Houghton barely turned around to chase back.Asking him to play 80 every single game with no back-up/respite is still a very risky decision despite how things have turned out.
Some of the late interchanges are still puzzling, bringing on some players with just 20-25 mins left and not having being used in the first half doesn't make sense to me.

Going on the lash after the CC, wrong decision, celebrate AFTER the season finishes. Yes we had an extremely hard run, yes the whole wembley thing is draining but we did have chances to win the saints game and indeed the Wigan game.
Is that hyper critical, if you like but if you want to win everything some decisions effect those chances and changing/addressing those decisions for the the future might bring us more rewards.
Dismissing that outright on the back of winning the CC is a bit shortsighted.
Will not winning/getting through to the GF be a disappointment, at this stage of the season. ..yes.'"

You really can't help yourself when it comes to Radford, can you?

I'll forgive the team any performance after Wembley.
They gave me my greatest rugby day of my life.
I know we had the potential for the treble, but there we go.
Wire were too good for us on the night, and deserved their win.
Let's go to Wigan and see what happens.

The problems been showing for a while even those few games before Wembley were just won, whic covered up for poor performance. We seemed to have lost the ability to break teams down and score in open play and as the game is about momentum I'll not be getting over excited again; as I and a lot of others thought we'd have played better than that. New shirt and cap which I nearly threw way in disgust at some dumb decisions.

Quote: Staffs FC "Agree with this. To win the CC we beat the other 4 teams at the top of the table. All massive games. Our attack actually started stumbling just prior to Wembley. At Wembley we scored from 2 kick plays but apart from those didn't really look slick at all. It's been a great season so far but I fear that we look jaded from the tough encounters we've had already. I'd never say never but it will be very hard next week against what I consider to be a tougher and more physical side than wire. The dominance that our props have had through the season appears to have dissipated and there were some pretty poor performances in a number of areas last night.

You can never write this team off as they've shown time and again. It's been a history making season but there still are IMO issues with structure and play making . That said it's easier to play behind a dominant pack and that dominance has waned in the last few games. I'm praying we can lift again one more time next week. The lads deserve their shot at the GF but it will need one of our herculean efforts to pull it off. I just wonder if a team only has so many of those games in it each season and maybe we used ours up on the way to CC glory.'"

Quote: Dave K. "Think no injuries is no having a negative effect, many players have played too many games and the players look tired mentally and physically, players like Ellis and Houghton are missing simple tackles and making mistakes, they wouldn't 4 weeks ago.

For next season, if Micheals signs, we need to either sign a halfback or look to play Abdul there, Carlos isn't creative enough with ball in hand and Sneyd needs to work on his passing and running game, all go all out for Brough and use Carlos in the centres.

Personally I wouldn't keep Micheals and use the money and quota spot for a half, we have Tala, Naughton, Fonua and Griffin who can play on the wing.

Hopefully not many will play for England in the off season.'"

Ain't we forgetting Naughton's being let go? Shaul as running half and Conner at back!

Quote: DABHAND "Tony Smith has a dig at us for having too many foreign players in our side in his interview for other channels.Says Warringtons investment in local talent has paid off, easy innit when you have a very wealthy boss who can cherry pick other clubs best players.'"

T. King, G. King, Patton, Penny, Wilde, Philbin, R. Evans, Smith. 8 players there through our academy who played on Friday. Hardly Cherry picked superstars.

Then of course you're missing our other 1st team regulars through the academy. Currie, B. Evans, Laithwaite, Dwyer, Ben Harrison

and Fringe 1st teamers through the academy. Livett and Johnson

And next season of course we'll have Mike cooper back who came through the academy and is adored over at St. George.

Anything else you want to say about our investment in local talent? Because there I've named 15 lads out of our 33 man squad who have come through the academy.
Next season we'll have an absolute minimum of 13.

Quote: Sebasteeno "Well we missed Wembley as we was in the middle of driving around Italy so me, the mrs and three kids really looked forward to this game, the scene was set, the supporters supported and...................the team looked absolutely shagged from 1-17 from the start. I dont think its a mental thing from Wembley, i just think the team is knackered, a lack of injuries has actually bitten us on the booty as very few have had any time off and it showed, we were off in intensity and at the end of the season when your supposed be peaking were done! For me thats the season over and although no one can argue that a wembley win has been great we was top for large parts of the season and at the death we lose it and finish third. Im deeply dissapointed in tonight and doubt ill be the only one'"

I've been saying this for a few weeks now and been shot down for it too. Some of those players are absolutely shot and I'm not surprised.

Losing to Leeds and Huddersfield latish on in the season meant that resting players became less of an option.
Every game from then on was a "must win", and we're suffering the consequences now.

Quote: Large Paws "You really can't help yourself when it comes to Radford, can you?'"

What are you talking about? Picking out certain aspects that we could do better for the future isn't having a go, it's discussing the finer points of things that i and others have discussed were we think in our opinion things could be improved.
Or do you think bringing on interchange players only to do 20 minutes in games is ok?
Do you think going on the lash after Wembley has a more positive or negative effect on a performance directly thereafter?
Do you think playing already jaded players again instead of using more squad players whom aren't is best despite the fact that this was proven this season not to be in short turnaround situations? against teams such as Hudds when the players were knackered and we got beat (& they were bottom and absolute cack as were Leeds when they beat us, even against Saints two weeks back I and others though Radford could have rested a couple more forwards. yet against warrington at home at Easter we won with loads of fresh legs.
If you are serious about succeeding as much as you can you look at everything possible.
This is a forum, this is where stuff about Hull FC is discussed.

Just a thanks for the good humour of the Hull fans...I was on radio warrington (local community radio) and we had some good chat with the Hull fans around us.

Theres an interview with a Hull fan called Gary - we did it at half time. www.spreaker.com/show/1950147 and look at episodes

It is not necessarily what you say, it is how you say it. You always come over as critical of Radford.

Quote: Freddie Miller. "Looking forward to watching a hard close match. My prediction is that the team which wins will not win the Grand Final.'"

Surprised at the lack of interest showed in the GF on this board.

A very fair season where the top 3 teams each win a trophy.
