I wouldn't say Austin is keeping Rangers out of danger but the irony has not been lost on me and my boys.
In relation to the £60 / £130 million conundrum, every club in the bottom half of the Premiership have the same puzzle apart from Burnley, who won't spend. I recall City fans rejoicing when the summer transfer window closed. Millions spent, but the result is there for all to see. Money isn't everything at the bottom. QPR know that all to well. You have to have a spirit in the squad. See Palace last season and Burnley this. Without that you fail. City can't play at home. Crowds dipping. It's starting to look tough. It's not impossible. Two wins and all will start to look and feel good, but their 2014 form even with millions spent is not looking good.

You don't understand the dislike for a club who's fans despise us and who's owner has one everything in his power to make life difficult for us? You don't understand the wish for ill fortune to befall a club who's fans and owner would be delighted to see us go out of business?
Really?

Overstatement to say City fans want FC to go out of business. Especially if you are basing your opinion on posts on forums. I would expect only a few of the 22,000 plus would want that to happen. A poor response to an entire club because a vociferous minority post a few uncomplimentary remarks. Your attitude is how wars start.

It's not all fans though is it? I have to admit that in my heart when I hear about a City defeat and their problems I just can't help being sort of pleased. I'm sure though that we all work with , know or even live with Hull City fanatics where their team means just as much to them as FC does to us so in the cold light of day I find it difficult to wish harm on them or hope that they go down. It's such a pity that Allam has acted the way he has. With just a different attitude , granted maybe from one or two other people as well , both teams could be rooting for each other and celebrating the good things that the KC has brought rather than being in the state we're in. Certainly it will do neither team or the City any good if they get relegated other than to give us a couple of weeks of smug satisfaction of seeing Allam fail. Then what?

On this forum there are people, including myself, who support both clubs. I nominate your post as the dumbest, least researched and least factual to be posted in 2014.

Never heard so much rubbish in all my life. Try living here and getting a genuine feel for what's going on before you make such stupid comments.

| Whether we like it or not Hull City playing in the Premier League of football brings a lot of kudos to our city. I know many rugby fans who also attend their matches and visa versa. I agree with the above posters, you are talking absolute rubbish.

Let's see the 'facts' then, if not then your post is much dumber... there may well be [isome[/i stalwart city fans that support FC, probably even fewer that come to games regularly however I've read plenty of vehemance shown by city fans towards our club & the 'egg chasers'

The viewpoints expressed aren't wholly mutually exclusive.
My opinion is:
Allam's frustration at lack of control over a public asset he wanted to borrow against for commercial purposes is expressed in some obvious ways (making life difficult for us) and other unfathomable ones (hacking off his own fans via the name change shambles).
Clearly if you put to one side for a moment the owner's animosity to the council, Hull FC, the press (by which I mean the proper press, not the HDM), the FA and large sections of City's fanbase, having City in the Premiership is a great thing for the, er, City. But the fact is that he's soured what should be a jubilant time in City's history with pointless and some would say spiteful barbs against those he's legally contracted too (tough titty!) but worse those who've supported City through the bad times and are now less able to enjoy the good. Try here (language warning) for views on the latest - removal of City from the matchday programme cover as an example:
www.hullcityindependent.net/?pag ... d_id=20233
To me it's not about wanting City as an entity to fail. But it's unrealistic to expect the fans of our club who are at best ambivalent about football to wish them well when the direct observable consequences of his tenure have been wholly negative for our club.

| Deary me - some right precious responses.
Someone questioned why so much 'hate' towards City. I put forward what I consider to be two reasons why you could expect strong dislike to be expressed by FC fans towards City. At no point did I suggest that all FC fans shared those views or even if I did myself.
Maybe a few folk could do with reading and comprehending before rushing to post.
Happy New Year.
Edit: Oh - and as for the attitude of City fans being restricted to the minority who post on forums, the exact same is true for the 'hate' expressed by FC fans.

| For what it's worth, I've supported both Hull and City with equal passion all my life, so I don't get the 'hate' towards Hull City.
As a City fan, I don't always agree with how Dr Allam goes about his business and and at times he has spoiled the great work he has done in getting City back to the Premier League. Yes he takes money out of the club (most owners do one way or the other), but he has invested heavily too in players.
Even if you just rugby league, you can't argue that Hull City's presence in the PL helps raise the stature of Hull.
As a Hull FC fan, naturally I always want us to do well. However, from a City of Hull point of view I always enjoyed the early 1980's most when we had the best two RL teams in the country.
I've lived in the Midlands for over 20 years now, but still take enormous pride in coming from Hull and will never have a bad word said about it.

| Normally I wouldn't bother to comment on anything City related but after a few years of them being in EPL I'm slightly bored of bandwagon City fans mouthing off.
All of a sudden, because they're having a little success they're the most important team in the area.
Comments like "you're ruining our pitch" infuriate me. Although, when it's pointed out that City haven't won home since the rugby finished they do get slightly twitchy.
City fans also get very defensive when it's pointed out that if Hull FC hadn't let them okay at the Boulevard in 1904 they wouldn't have been allowed in to the league in 1905.
