Had this sent to me by a relative in Aus when I asked him what his opinion on Fitz was....
He is a great player, a real workhorse, often has the most number of hitups and tackles in a match. He also used to do goal kicking duties, getting a bit older now but still got a few yers left in him. He also comes from Dapto originally and his dad was also a great footballer and is now the Director at the Dapto Leagues club. I saw it in the paper yesterday but did not read it through, he was not playing for my team. He won't have any problems with his visa, he is a gentleman, great pickup for Hull, you look after him for us OK?

| First thought was FFS! After thinking about it a bit more I think he will do well for us. A couple of years ago I thought he was finished but last season he was excellent and the move from backrow to prop seemed to have really revitalised him. Great experience and good leadership qualities and a real workhorse. My only problem is his age/pace but at least it's only a one year deal. He has always looked after himself so I don't soubt he will be in great shape.
I think the problem is we all want a SH so until we hear about one every signing we make will always be a little tempered.

Bingo.
Although even allowing for that, some of the reactions on here have been ridiculous IMO.

TBF I don't think he is the type of player Hull neither want nor need. They are strengthening an area they are already strong in and to liken this signing to that of Kearney is like you say, ridiculous.

Always the same mate, it's a joke at times tbh.
I actually think that if we do sign a centre and a SH for next season our suad will be up there to compete with the best. Providing Luauki comes over then along with Fitzy and tow more signings I think we will be challenging. Hell we are still in 7th now.

Who is likening it to Kearney? Either way he brings expereince and leadership which is what Keanrey brought, not that Fitzy is in the same league as SK but he is a very highly decorated forward who has done the lot.

As Paul says, the similarities with Kearney are in terms of leadership and attitude rather than ability. We're crying out for those qualities in the side in general, let alone in the pack.
Personally I don't think that our second row is that strong, either. We may have plenty who can play there but only Manu is top class with Barnett being likely to make it as well.

Some on here have, though not you.
Its a signing of desperation of that there is no doubt, his best years are well behind him and he is undoubtedly here to boost his pension fund. Nobody is denying he has had a great career but so did Menzies and look how great Bradford are now
Whichever way you look at it, it is not a signing that will excite the faithfull.
Just my opinion mind
