Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| I'm sure David Howes will have someone lined up.

Being highly respected within NRL circles would be a good start.

It's a general managers job. Being a known player in the NRL leaves him a tad short of the relevant skills and experience for the job

| Was shocked when I heard this, with hindsight it was on the cards, but still its a tough one for us.
Will be difficult to fill like for like. Wouldn't surprise me if Adam split the role and goes for a General Manager and a Head of Recruitment.
Just Gutted.
But so thankful we had Motu in the role long enough for him to put his cup winning finger print on the team.
A great servant who's made a significant impact on the fortunes of Hull FC.
Another incentive to get that big tin cup at Old Trafford.

| just wondering if motu might still be involved with overseas recruitment to some extent, with him being based down there in future and with his contacts in nz and aus. would be useful, and might save the club sending someone halfway round the world to conduct negotiations

Tony had no previous experience of this role.
Remember, we do also have a CEO who runs the company. The GM position is very much focused to the Team. Personally I think its something Ellis COULD be good at. He would have six months of shadowing Tony to gain some practical experience and could use his contacts throughout the game.
Just a thought

| CEO, in name yeah we do, he's not very experienced at taking the helm of company this size though, if any company of note aside from his own previously in fact.
So, would rather have someone from outside the club with a proven record who can take the next step for the club as opposed to sentimental jobs for past players because they're friends with the coach or were 'popular' with team-mates/fans.

| Shaun Briscoe will be a suitable relationship surely as an out and out specialist general manager rather than the utility value Motu provided by filling in In the role...

No, that doesn't cut it as a repost.
James Clark has no experience as a CEO of even a small sized company, so the expectation as alluded to upthread that he could take on the managerial/business side of what Motu Tony's role involved in my opinion isn't wise nor practical.
But if you have an opinion instead of rolling your eyes please do get invovled in the debate properly.

Absolutely no point in debating with you. You've been proved factually wrong time and time again as well as being a liar. Maybe you should go into politics.

| I concur with what Uppo said on the last page but in the end I wonder where all this general Manager stuff has come from he's a football manager and has done a fair job at that for which we should all be grateful. However has anyone ever tried to find out exactly what he does besides recruiting players? We have in Feke a very capable welfare officer who looks after the players needs and Lee is very hands on with that too so as Motu has chosen to leave we are grateful for his involvement and the footprint he has left on 2 of the greatest moments in Hull FC history and move on. For me its a massive opportunity to revaluate where we are and what we need to move forward. Old boy appointments are not always the answer though but we have to trust Adam. Just my thoughts! Good luck Motu!
