Wire win tonight, Hull lose their semi and the season ends on a whimper, a Wigan win tonight sets up a fantastic end of the regular season game against a team Hull have beaten three times already, why would any one not want that outcome ? I'm sure Leeds fans would be laughing at some of the posts on here after their treble last season "what's up Hull, aren't you tough enough to go all the way". Really cannot believe the way some people think, all the work the coaching staff and players have done this season and some folk from their own club hope Wire win to deny their own club a chance of the treble, amazing !

Look back at Leeds run of success. Generally it was about winning the comp from a position other than first, right? Last year IIRC was the anomaly, surely?

Quote: Soul Boy "Great game tonight to watch and a bit of a win, win situation for Hull (well maybe the fans.) Wigan win and its all on next week and the LLS is once again in our hands and the possibility of the treble. Wire win and its a guaranteed 2nd place finish (baring some mathematical miracle) and a home semi final. No doubt Hull FC want the treble and to try and pick up another piece of silverware as will some fans. For me a home semi-final is a must and a Wigan win tonight would mean we have to beat wire next week, not only to get top spot and the LLS but with Wigan playing Catalan next week they could end up leapfrogging us into 2nd and then a away tie in the semi!!! I hope they batter each other for the full 80 minutes!!'"

Tend to agree, positives for both outcomes. Would never have predicted this in Feb icon_cool.gif icon_lol.gif

Just hoping for a very physical game and that they knock each other about.

Que sera, sera and all that. Whatever the outcome what a massive improvement on last year when we played out seven meaningless games including five straight losses.

I agree last year was an anomaly but surly that's what it's all about, doing something that few other teams have done, Hull have never been in this position before, if all goes well it could be the most successful season in the clubs history, something totally unprecedented at the start of the season and now near to the final hurdle I think you've got to hope for the treble rather than wishing another team to take one of the prizes, each to their own but for me rugby league is not about wanting a bit of the cake and sharing the rest, too much blood and guts throughout the season for that.

Won 7
Three from 1st in '04, '09 & '15
Two from 2nd in '07 & '08
Two from 5th in '11 & '12

Those two from 5th place obviously under a much different playoff format where we could build momentum and when we faced the LLS winners in the semi's they had a week off after an easy first week win. Under this shortened playoff system and given the closeness of the four teams involved I'd definitely want a home playoff game but I wouldn't rule out the two teams who are playing away either.

Looking like a week off and a home play-off then. Good half of rugby league.

Oh, hang on.

can't bring myself to cheer on wigan. Really not bothered about league leaders since they made it even more of a silver medal by handing it out after the super 8s.
