| Bloody Willie Manu's fault as well. Longy went to line up a tackle and Manu came in with the big smash behind him, which was totally unnecessary (and didn't even get the tackle done). Could have happened to anyone.

| As much as it was Manu who did cause the injury, to say it was unnecessary is daft. He was tackling as he always tackles on kick chases.

To barge through your own player to put a shot on is daft, and has cost us our half-back. Could have easily made a more technical tackle (which he also does, he doesn't always put on big shots) as he had time to line up the man (as well as time to see Long was there).
There's a time and a place for big hits. Unfortunately this wasn't one of them.

| Yes it was. Or, at least, it could've been. He didn't go through Long, Long put his arm across the Catalans player (Carlaw, bizarrely on the wing, I think) just as Manu was making the hit. No blame can be apportioned for that. Manu regularly stays a couple of yards back from the first chaser so he can come forward and meet the kick-returner as they're slowing and bracing for the impact from the first man (Long, in this case). It was just unfortunate that Long had his arm across in exactly the wrong spot.

| Sad to hear about Longys injury.
He has certinaly been in the wars in the last 18 months, what with breaking his jaw leaving his face paralysed and now with a serious elbow injury.
Hope its not what Cunningham suffered, as that nearly finished KC's career, in addition i dont think he now has full movement of one arm. Certainly KC's passing is far weaker than prior to the injury. Teams also target his weak arm to run at. Similarly KC doent use that arm to hand off anymore. Whereas prior to the injury he had a handoff like a sledgehammer.

I would say that is hitting the nail right on the head IMO. An unfortunate accident for longy to get injured in the tackle, just seems to be our luck that it had to be him rather than someone a little less influential to our play.
Get well soon longy!!

| Quote His Bobness="His Bobness"Bad luck? Give over. The signing of Long was always a huge gamble.
Long will miss more games than he plays, this season, next season and any other season you decide to keep paying him.
It's what happens to players in their twighlight. Not just Long, everyone.
That's why you'll also regret paying top dollar for another year of Fitzgibbon. He's missed a few this time but you ain't seen nothin yet. It's inevitable and if it wasn't these 2 players would still be wanted at their previous clubs wouldn't they? There's a time to get rid and there's always some mug willing to pick up the tab.
Great players? Undoubtedly. But not as good as Roger Millward or Knocker Norton - and all 4 have similar playing futures in front of them.'"
You're an idiot. And you're beginning to irritate me. I advise you to stop.

| Sad to hear about longys injury and hope it's not as serious as first thoughts.
It's no shock imo as he is very injury prone over last 3 years. He missed most of saints games in his last two years at saints. That IMO was a major factor in saints not giving him another year because he can still play a bit and still best 7 in super league on his day.
Sad news.

| My son dislocated and fractured his at easter and had to have it wired and was in plaster for 4 weeks. They have said that he may never be able to fully extend his arm again, it's about 10 degrees out now but they hope that will improve with further physio. They said it'd be 3 months until he was back to normal use and it has been. I know you can't compare a (nearly) 7 year old to a professional RL player but I would hope that Hull's physio and rehab are much more intensive than what my son has had.
That kind of injury isn't being injury prone, it's just bad luck pure and simple and could happen to anyone.
