Good luck to him. He was highly thought of by the players and got us to the top four twice.

Sharp may have brought in the likes of Berrigan, Tickle and Manu but unfortunately he also made some poor choices particularly in the way of quota places. That coupled with a poor start in 2008 was his undoing.

And a shambolic injury situation - which goes without saying which is probably why you didn't. Sharp was a decent coach - often lambasted on here (shock horror) - but his recruitment was mixed as you say. Had he been given the time Agar has I think he would have turned it around.

Are you all tapped? Next you'll be saying Peter Walsh and Len Casey were good coaches. Peter Sharp absolutely wrecked the playing side of this club. To this day we are still about the most boring unattractive rugby playing team in SL and thats a legacy of the boring exceedingly average players he brought into the club. Hell the board even seem to recognise it by giving Agar lots of time to get rid of the garbage. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yup. Good coach, great bloke, and as unlucky as feck during his time here. His recruitment was patchy but I have a suspicion he didn't have the same opportunities that Agar has had to really 'clear house' and make big changes.

I liked him. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

Hell the board even seem to recognise it by giving Agar lots of time to get rid of the garbage. He took over Kear's team and got us to the GF. The following year he got us into the top 4 despite playing most of the season with no scrum half and a shed load of injuries. Even in the year he got the sack, his side got to the CC final and put up a decent showing against Saints - once again without any half backs through injury. He's widely respected among players and coaches. The facts don't seem to back up your assertions.

I liked Sharp and was sad to see him leave before the end of his contract but he had his fair share of flaws as a coach IMO.

Two for me...

1. Recruitment was up and down.
2. Didn't seem very flexible with game plans when injury struck.

I reckon he'd do an excellent job with a stable side with only the normal number of disruptions through injury. The situation he found himself in here unfortunately highlighted his weaknesses and played against his strengths. That said, his record for us is actually pretty creditable given the circumstances.

His record was outstanding compared to Agars (win ratio)...however strangely he was not given 2 years with the CE claiming it was not his team eusa_think.gif

Sharp is definitely his own man with his own voice and views not always welcomed at our club icon_wink.gif

I agree circumstances went against him here.
