Not expecting miracles, just want a scrum half that organises and stays fit, hopefully.'"
I wasn't expecting miracles either, but I didn't think he looked as good as either Dykes or Head. Still, it is early days...

Speaking for myself, he didn't blow me away, but he did his job. Given our recent history in his position that's already a step up and a cause for positivity. If all he does is kick ok, keep us organised, move the ball to the right areas and create a few tries regularly, it will be a massive step forward for us.

He didn't look as good as Head (I think it was pretty impressive how quickly he settled into our side in all honesty), but he wasn't far behind Dykes' early games IMO. He/we may improve so that he looks better than Dykes did once bedded in more. The key thing in comparison to those 2 though, is that he didn't look like he was held together by bandages and might fall apart at any time.

Whilst that's undoubtedly true, I just long for the day when we sign another player to get really excited about. He's gonna be more Paul Deacon than Jason Smith, I reckon.

Why do people have this thing about 'dummy runners'? No one should be a dummy runner, everyone should be an option!
Why should someone be a dummy runner, aren't they allowed to receive the ball when making a run?'"
Yes they are all an option, but only one of them can take the pass as there is only one ball. The set plays will have several options, but one intended recipient. The others are there to cause a distraction to the defensive line and therefore, dummy runners.
We have spent too many of our recent years knowing who was going to get the ball and if we knew, the oposition knew. Thats why we struggled to break teams down in the ten.
Just my opinion. I may be wrong. I usually am

This is true! He'll do a reasonable job if he stays fit, I guess.

But then again, which of those 2 has most SL winner's medals?
I know what you're saying, but I just think that Seymour looks promising as we are still only at the start of (hopefully) turning our side round.

If we have as much success as the Bulls had when he was there, I'll be happy

Yeah, you're probably right. He just didn't excite me in any way. Thought McKinnon, for example, looked a lot better (in his position).

The challenge now though is whether any SL team will make signing of the class of Jason Smith again, at least from overseas. Isn't Cronk after 850,000 Australian dollars a year?

If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...: |

Only if the said player is kicked out of the NRL and doesnt take the Union bait.
Super League is not the best financial option any more.

All men are created equal, some work harder in preseason.
-[i:1c45x4hd]Emmitt Smith[/i:1c45x4hd]: |
|
| People seem to be forgetting that Seymour spent the final chunk of last season injured/playing for the warriors feeder club, and he's also moved to the other side of the world and joined a team with a new set up and a few other new faces, in a league that differs from what he was used to. Organising a team after all that is going to be difficult for the first few games.

I know what you're saying but, although they will be an intended recipient. But alot of the time that pass won't be the correct one. They could be two defenders doubling up on him or something. So like I said if they are all an option, they should be ready to recieve the ball wehter or not it is intended for them.
The opposition might realise who the ball is going to go for and decide to run out of the line and put a shot on him, Yeaman-esqe. Therefore pop it up to someone else who could be running into the gap left by the player aiming to tackle the intended reciever.

| I thought we looked well organised other than a couple of dubious plays by Westerman which weren't successful. Credit to the halves for that organisation. We also scored from some good quality kicks from both Seymour and Horne. More to come hopefully as partnerships develop but we look a better team already.
