| The ideal scenario for me would be for us to sign a top hooker and have Houghton as an impact sub off the bench. I have been critical of Houghton but that doesn't mean I don't like/rate him, I just don't think he's the kind of player we want/need him to be.
If he leaves it could be good business provided we replace him with quality. But that's the problem. I have no faith in the club to sign the right player. Replacing him with McShane would be a disaster.

| If and its a big if he does leave I would go with Cunningham think the lad deserves a chance and imo could be a very good hooker

We can't just have Cunningham on his own though. We would still need another.

| Rob Burrow is off contract and wants to play in the halves so I'm not sure he'd go as part of any deal, and there's no way Danny Houghton is worth the same as Sam Tomkins.

| Who wouldn't like the NRL hooker of the year? Wishful thinking or what.

| Has Motu still got his boots?
If Leeds are offering dosh + Burrow for Houghton, I'd take it. He's a great tackler, but slow at DH with poor decision making. Passes aren't accurate either.
Here's a question, would you have kept Hodgson or Houghton?

In hindsight you would have to say Hodgson by a distance. But at the time we all thought Houghton would kick on and we didn't know much about Hodgson.

Pah, I bet you were one saying don't even bother mentioning signing Sterling, he's too good
If we have Marquee cap money why the hell shouldn't we be aiming high?

It's a good question. Clearly the right answer is both, and this was entirely possible, but that was another Agar masterstroke.
The value equation has to be who would we get who would be a step up from Houghton with the cash. Rovers have done some great recruitment but at hooker were arguably opportunistic in getting Lunt and really struggled before that. Personally, on balance I'd keep Houghton and get him doing more long kicking as I really think this an underused strength of his.

Who wouldn't sign him? the only team with 2 half decent hookers are wire and higham must be nearing retirement. wigan would rather him than logan tomkins I'm sure

| All gone a bit mad on here
Few yrs ago it was an outrage danny Houghton wasn't being picked for England. Now he's rubbish.
What's more laughable to me is according to rumour he's good enough for the top placed team n 1 of the most successful teams of the modern area. But not for us! Lol
Don't suppose anybodies noticed aiton having already thrown 3 passes well above first receivers head or at their knees. Or clark n his very frequent erratic passing.
Not the entire way to judge but compare Houghtons stats with any hooker barring Roby. His work rate is miles in front. A as mentioned under used kicking game (an element most others don't have) all his stats in fact stack up but all round best by a distance.
Put Houghton in the current leeds team he'd utterly outshine aiton. Current player of the month.
It's not as if hookers are a plenty on the market n we've much bigger needs than hooker so why people are so keen to lose him is baffling to me
