Probably too hard for Satae but looks non-existent for Abdul.

| Quote: Jake the Peg "Of course it matters if we could spend it elsewhere and get more out of the player
Don't you have to be paying a min of £175k a season to take advantage of the marquee rule?'"
Can't find anything about what you are actually supposed to be paying a player for it to count, just this on the RFL siteClubs will now be permitted up to three Marquee Players (up from two), but only if at least one of them is Federation Trained.
Whereas previously all Marquee Players were counted as £150,000 on a club’s salary cap, with the exception of Club-Trained players who counted as £75,000, now Club-Trained Marquee Players will count as £50,000; Federation-Trained Marquee Players will count as £100,000; and Non-Federation Trained Marquee Players will remain valued at £150,000 in salary cap calculations.'"
So this makes it sound like you can include anyone as a marquee to me as long as they are earning above the threshold for the category they meet.

| Quote: Sonny Crockett "The allowance that HDM/HU8 HFC are talking about taking advantage of is the club trained MARQUEE allowance...the club already utilises it's home grown allowances to the max, there is no further advantage to Abdul salary cap wise unless he is a marquee (only 50k on cap)...so yes it would appear that Abdul would complete the marquee player trio.
Risky strategy with no real pay-off.'"
It’s not really risky it’s just a poor strategy. Our marquee players will be Trueman, Asiata and Abdull. Compare that to the quality of marquee players at other clubs and it means we are either doing it on the cheap or just another example of terrible salary cap management. There’s also question marks over all 3 players injury record or age. Pearson was quick to allude to this as been our biggest problem this season having big earners Trueman and Carlos on the sidelines.
It also means that the expected top quality NRL 7, 9 or centre talked about weeks ago now isn’t going to happen as we’ve filled these gaps with English players assuming O’Connor is the new 9. Fair enough we might have a few quota spots for some forwards, but realistically without any marquee money and the gap between NRL and SL salaries we’ll be limited to reserve graders and fringe players. It could work but we’ve not had great luck going down this route with Evans, Okunbor, Pele, Hoy etc in recent years.

| Very rarely do SL clubs sign top quality NRL players, especially in positions such as 7 or 9.
The best player IMO is French who was a fringe player, so was Mago, Misk hardly played.
Ipapa another example, never played in the NRL.
Heard O Connor isn't happening, so can still bring in a centre, Hooker and backrower with Carlos, Hoy and Ockunbor's spot. We will certainly have the cap space.
More worried we could have 4 quota props, but hope at least one of them is released.

This is what I have been wondering. I'm sure that before the season began, Pearson said we had no marquee players and now Trueman appears to be classed as a marquee player by some.
However, if I am reading the rules right, we can only have three marquee players if one is federation trained so is that Trueman?

Some people keep saying he is a marquee, but it was only last year AP said we didn't have a marquee player

| Can you have 2 overseas marquee players and one homegrown.
So if we had Abdul, we could have 2 overseas players as marquee players.

| I might be wrong but i'm sure that AP said in his Humberside interview that we have 'almost a fifth' of our cap was on the sidelines in Trueman and Carlos, going off the £2.3 Million which AP has quoted, that would mean both are roughly earning £200K a year.

The way I read the rules is that you can only have three marquee players if at least one is federation trained. I don't really understand the whole federation thing so if someone can explain that to me I would be grateful. Does Trueman class a federation trained for example or are we talking overseas signings as federation trained players, in which case is Asiata our federation trained player?

| Where has it even come from that Abdull would be a marquee signing?

| The Abdull Marquee thing is just a way to give us more cap to sign another player.

Thank you. So it sounds to me like we may have decided to list Trueman as a marquee signing when previously he was just part of the normal salary cap in order to get two more marquee players in.
