| Quote: WormInHand "Agree with you and Susie. Almost unanimously the support nationally both in the media and amongst other clubs' fans and players is anti-name change and eminently disapproving of Allam's ridiculous - and distasteful - recent public displays. This just makes the fawning sycophancy displayed from the local media appear even more contrived than it is.
Why do they do it? Amanda White, clearly scorned by Allam on air for having the temerity to interview him as a woman, comes out the next day to say she 'liked him'. Burns comes out with the glaringly obvious claptrap that he's a 'nice man', and takes the trouble to spread the word on Allam's behalf that the council have 'offered him the stadium freehold'. This has today being dismissed as absolute rubbish by a councillor, yet our local 'free' press and certainly not 'he's a nice man' Burns still raise no criticism against 'Dr' Allam (as they prefer to, vulgarly, refer to him).
It's sick-making. But I honestly don't know what they're scared of. What can he do to them? Instead they continue to embarrassingly prostrate themselves in front of him to lick his toes despite the popular opinion of the people they independently broadcast to currently being almost universally cynical of the man and his attitudes.
You'd have thought they'd have learned after Duffen. Burns is no fool, but he's making himself look one. Again. Grow a pair, do, Humberside and the Mail.'"
Wow bloody well said

I don't think he has. The club is not worth the money he has invested to balance the books. He would only realise say £30m leaving him with loans outstanding to new buyers - its whether anyone would take that on. He is also taking a risk that the club get relegated and do a Portsmouth and then he might get 1p in the £ for his debt. I would agree he has backed himself into a corner in so many ways that he will struggle to get out and save face.
If City get relegated - he will blame the fans for disrupting the players.

| I still don't get how annoying the fanbase is going to increase revenues which was the whole reason for the name change in the first place. As someone said above people are interested in winning teams not gimmicky names

| The thing with the DR is that he's a money grabbing wanna be Roman Chelsea.
He's only changing the name for better marketing around the world for more sponsors.
Yes many may say well done to him for trying to make Hull known worldwide, but his recent comments show that all he's after is money.
PS.. That video was hilarious

| What are the odds that Hull Tigers are sponsored by Tiger Beer or Singapore Airlines.

| Rather long I would think. Asian fans love winners - think Man U, Chelsea, Barcelona, etc. To think that corporate giants such as these would want to be associated with a battling team in only its 3rd season in the Premier League and risk upsetting the supporters of the bigger English and European clubs is somewhat optimistic.

He's not done too bad so far, the blokes worth god knows how many million!! Footballing wise hie decision to get rid of Barmby was a pretty good one (and very unpopular with the fan base) and to appoint Bruce worked well,
There is an argument that City are now in the press far more than they would/should have been without all this controversy. I don't for one minute think that was the intention but currently they are a lot more attractive to sponsors than a number of other PL clubs.
There could be a real publicity coup if there is a back down by Allam and as has been said sponsorship by a tiger related product would be ideal (can't see it happening by the way).
I don't think he has a buyer tho, maybe he has realised that he is throwing too much money at City and wants out, this would be an easy way to walk or stop investment. Either that or he's just as mad as a box of frogs and this is just what he does.

He lives in scarborough but reckons he was brought up in a town with no football club,i'm guessing Beverley.
