| I agree, but if Hull are good at one thing they love to go over the top at saying how good a player is or how poor they are after a few game, think this is what has happened with both Rapana and Knight.
I'd keep both Rapana and Cartwright over Knight, I know Jed has had his injuries but think both have a bigger impact for team than Knight.
Think we need another prop, but think there's more chance of getting a good domestic prop than a back or backrower.

| World_Of_Redboy:odd shaped balls:World_Of_Redboy:The Dentist Wilf:
Once the usual heartbreak has melted away a bit I have to say that performance wasn't that bad at all !!! I see we have the usual grumblers on here again but quite frankly I can't quite see how anyone can have anything but admiration for our efforts this afternoon. Here we are playing the best team in the comp and down to 12 men early on, (which in the modern game spells disaster for even the best) and yet we have the opposition coach coming to the touchline to rally his troops when in the middle of the second half they are in danger of being bettered by a 12 man opposition out on their feet. For me the progress we have made since last year is phenomenal and most fans appreciate that; you only have to see how many stayed when it was a lost cause. We have to celebrate the spirit, wanting and desire in this squad we have.
We made errors and fluffed our lines at times. But how potent are we these days with the ball in the opposition 20??? There were some massive efforts out there with players running for the shirt and the fans when most would have expected them to have expired much earlier. I was proud of the lads today and when we have had as long as the dobbins to build a team we are going to be some force in the game and the City of Hull could well again become the capital of rugby league. We are going to lose some this year, of course we are, but what a coach we have, watching it back he is just as enthusiastic as we all are when we score and its easy to see how the whole club is all together in it for us lot out there in the stands. I refuse to criticise anyone as is the case with Cust who perhaps could have done something, but the rules are the rules, however if I was running that fast I doubt I could have changed much!!! (me running not going to happen though so can't prove it!!!!) We Might have won that one on a level playing field, but when the best team in the leagues supporters cheer a sending off as much as they would winning a trophy it says a lot for how far we have come!!! On we go, but isn't it great to watch this team of ours this season. I'm loving it!!!
Sorry Wilf but if you can?t criticise Cust then you need to go to specsavers Cust?s stupidity stopped us from having a great chance to win the match His tackle using the point of the shoulder was deliberate, and be because he made no attempt to tackle with his arms he had no defence The replay shows how he turned his shoulder into Morgue. He may not have meant to hit Morgue in the head but it was straight Red card when he did. No he didn?t?.ok it?s reckless at most but not deliberate at all?he is coming in at speed and can?t adjust?Richard Whiting said the same and il take his word over yours Please, just go and watch the highlights of today on YouTube, they replay the Cust incident about 5 times. Yes, he was coming at speed, but you can see him deliberately turn his shoulder to its points before hitting Mourgue. He may not have wanted to hit Morgue in the head but he knew what he was doing in his actions. He made no attempt to use his arms to tackle And as soon as he made contact with Morgue?s head it was a straight red with no mitigation I?ve also disagreed with Rich Whiting on X over it. I rewatched the incident and have to say I still think red was harsh and I feel yellow was more appropriate. In watching its clear to me that in the split second Cust gets caught is two minds as to avoid the collision which was unavoidable. I?d also listen to a seasoned pro like Whiting as he is RL through and through and knows the game. Then less than 2 hours later Mbye puts a clear shot with his shoulder to the head but is deemed a yellow due to mitigation of the Wigan player dropping. For me that seemed a more intentional hit than the collision between Cust & Morgue. To add insult to the situation Hargreaves?s in full view of the supposed assistant ref throws a deliberate punch at Asiata which makes direct contact with the head. Yet there is nothing done or reviewed about that and by letter of the law striking is a red card, so why nothing?

| Obviously disappointed to lose the Derby, but considering we played with 12 men for 65 mins, that was a very good performance. I watched the game back last night and our play 40-60 mins was excellent. We had them on the back them on the back foot and some of their players were blowing. However, with 12 men you are always at risk at been exposed and that what Rovers did with the Batchelor try.
No complaints about the Cust sending off. Thought that in the ground and also watching it back on TV. At least as bad as Senior at Cas the other week, so I?m expecting at least a 2 match ban to follow. I noticed him sarcastically applaud the referee as he came off at the end of the game. Didn?t like that. If Cust stays on, we potentially win that game yesterday.
Great to see the overall improvement this season and a pleasure to see our improved defence and attacking options. Certainly expect our general thoughts of 8th this season, being upgraded to a play off spot. Just need to improve our discipline, as someone else mentioned, on top of yesterday?s red we have had a spate of yellow cards recently, which is primarily down to the players not the referee.
Happier times ahead though and nice to see us competing again.

| Easty:
Hull were valiant in defeat and progressing well, a better bench and I think Hull could have snatched the game, Rovers losing Davies and Burgess didn't help us and you capitalised on the edge.
The next few years are going to be interesting, Hull will keep improving and with the investments Rovers are doing we aren't going away either.
As for Lewis I'm confused by many comments about him, so Hull fans can chant about him been a sex offender which I have no issue with, they then chant about the paternity of his child again I don't have an issue as its banter, but then you take an issue with Lewis giving a little bit back to you?
Am I missing something or does he not have a right to give a little back?
Hull players where sticking two fingers up to Rovers fans, I don't remember Lewis offering out expletives to your fans?
Hello Easty, been a little while since we've seen you around these parts! You're right in that Lewis, having taken a fair amount of stick, is entitled to give a little bit back, but I think he needs to be careful he doesn't find himself in a running battle with opposition supporters every time he takes to the field, especially in a derby game. I just think he would be best served concentrating on his game and rising above any flak that's coming his way, think it will serve him better in the long run. If our players were flicking the finger towards your section then that falls into the same category in my mind. It's becoming a growing trend in the game and I think we need to be careful it doesn't get out of hand. In games like yesterday there can be a few hot-heads in the crowd, not always in control of themselves. I'd hate for us to have an incident where an idiot charges onto the pitch to deliver his own retribution to a player he doesn't like, but I can see it happening if this is left unchecked. Think it's even worse in football, with players deliberately celebrating in front of opposition fans in a provocative manner (Jamie Vardy is a chief culprit here). Believe there was an incident at full-time a couple of weeks back (may have been Plymouth at Sheffield Utd.) which nearly sparked a riot. Sooner or later an idiot will take matters into his own hands. I Remember that around 15 years ago that Clint Newton, when he was playing for you, had a running banter with Fc fans, but I always thought he stayed on the right side of humorous, giving back just enough of what he was receiving. I just felt that Lewis yesterday was straying too far over the line, seemingly never missing an opportunity to stoke up South or East stand. He's a fine player no doubt about that, among the best 2/3 in SL at the moment, but think it would be best if Peters had a quiet word with him to focus on his game and let his actions on the pitch do the talking for him. A lot of players before Lewis have had to take stick from opposition fans, I can remember Ellery Hanley being pilloried by a Hull crowd with what today would undoubtedly be classed as racist abuse (this was the 1980s!!!), but they simply got on with playing their own game and shrugged it off as par for the course. You're right in that why should the invective all be one way, but players ultimately can't win if they find themselves embroiled in a running argument with a baying mob. The best way for Lewis to quieten any crowd, be it Fc or anyone else, is to deliver on the pitch and walk off with his head held high. He's asking for trouble if he continues acting like he did yesterday. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is in today's game, and indeed in wider society in general.

| With regards to Lewis' antics as said before he's got every right to give a bit back especially if some of the chanting was about his young child (absolutely no place for that, it's a bloody game of rugby) but he needs to reel it in.
The way the game is sanitised now he knows he can get away with his behavior, 15/20 years ago he'd have been belted into the middle of next week but now the game is tailored to arrogant little clowns like that because they know they'll get away with it.

Yes, agree with all of the above. At 0-10 and a man down I was fearing the worse, but we regrouped superbly and in that 40-60 minute period it was difficult to see that we were a man down. It was a very even contest at that point, in fact if anything we were the ones with the wind in our sails, but the effort caught up with us and we couldn't scramble once too often when Batchelor scored, which lifted the pressure valve for them somewhat. Thought the Hargreaves try, off a mistake, put a little gloss on their win. We'll never know what the outcome would have been if it had stayed a 13v13 contest, would we have played with the same intensity? who knows. Looking back now, think that Morgue's try just before the break was crucial. 4-16 felt like a very different score to 4-10. Think it would have been very interesting if we had been ahead on the hour mark, but it's all ifs and buts now! Like you say, happier times ahead and after the horror show of 2024 it is simply nice to see us competing once more.

| Avoiding the quote thing as it drags in a full page but deffo thought Cust's was a red. JWH should be in bother for that direct punch to the head on Asiata.

I'm 100% confident nothing will even be mentioned about the JWH punch, despite an official been 4 feet away and it being on clear video.

Pro sportsmen will get grief and should be able to take it. The issue with Lewis is he runs around acting like a 5 year old on the pitch. He needs to mature and he'll be a much better player for it. Wane has spoken about how it's the reason he doesn't put him in thee england side as first choice. The best thing he could do would be get out of hull and go spend some time in an environment in the nrl where his antics aren't tolerated. Hull will overtake rovers in a couple of years. You saw yesterday how massive we are. 16-17k fans and owners worth half a billion. We dwarf you in terms of potential and the owners are here for the club, not investment land.

It needs as many people as possible to tag the RFL and the press into the evidence to try and force their hand. Although that's still no guarantee that they'll act on it.
