Surprised at the length of the contract why sign for 5 years if you have NRL ambitions? Even though the Cronulla deal fell through I would have thought he would have still been looking to head down under at his peak, maybe in a couple of years (unless he's got an NRL out clause).

As soon as we withdrew our offer he was free to do what he wanted, if he chose to keep it quiet that's his choice, personally where he was going to end up was of no interest to me once he made the choice to leave.

In a way I'm glad he's gone (not from a rugby POV mind), the bile & vitriol shown by so called fans on here denegrating Tom on the back of pure fantasy & speculation means from this fans viewpoint I'm glad he is away from it.

A young man whom burst onto the scene (quite literally) and did us proud time & time again, his form may have dipped but can you say hand on heart how many of our players that could be said of throughout the season? form is temporary, class is permanent as they say.

When you consider that his next move was going to secure his future for a large portion of his (rugby) working career do you not think this burden could well have had an effect on his on field performances especially taking into account leaving family & friends if going to Australia?

As many here have never moved outside their own postcode never mind to another country half way around the world you can't understand what this individual may have been thinking. I precluded earlier this season that his family may well have come first in his decision and if for whatever reason an NRL deal fell through then this made his choice far easier.
If it is in fact true that we had already lined his wages up for someone else where else was he going to go? Even if we did offer him more and he turned it down maybe the lure of actually being appreciated and being nearer to family plus being at a club with a chance of being in the mix for winning stuff was more of a draw than the financial aspect. Certainly I know it was for me.

Well briscoe was after going to oz and FC was going to sort a deal where he returns to us but McRae said nothing would be on the table upon his return the oz deal never materialised and McRae said the deal what we offered was no longer available hence our only england star on a 5 year deal at the champions so you go and stretch what you want standee??
