We made easy yards and dominated field position, but lacked any real idea in the opposition 20. Obviously the conditions were a factor in that, but we'll need to learn to convert pressure into points if we're going to beat anyone decent.
Sharp was excellent and I thought Whiting well and truly proved those who said he couldn't defend in the middle of the park wrong.'"
Although it was interesting that in Gentle's interview it sounded like Whiting himself sees himself more as a wider backrower than through the middle. Agree he had a very good game today though.'"
He could arguably be better out wide, but that's not the same as him being unable to play up the middle as some were suggesting.

The difference is that Sandercock has only had to make tweaks to them, Gentle is having to change almost everything about the way we play.

| Quote: UllFC "the rivalry with Rovers clouds a lot of fans opinions too, obviously I enjoy it when we win and they lose, but I'd take finishing below them this season if it means I am watching a Top4 side regularly making finals in 2/3 years time.
Whereas some fans would be delighted with us finishing 7th and Rovers 8th when really that means nothing in the grand scheme of things.'"
It's the 'it doesn't matter where we finish as long as we beat them' mentality the Sandercock keeps referencing. The problem is it can hold you back just as much as it can spur you on if you're not careful.

| It was comprehensive, just not on the scoreboard. We totally bossed it for 95% of the match. You can see the foundations being put in place, but it will take time.
Gentle is obviously building things from the defence, & the attack will follow suit I'm sure.
A work in progress, but I have total faith in AP, Bomber & Gentle.

I actually think we were worse.
In a way that's why I can't understand the depth of negativity from some. Today Wakey gave us a big reminder of our standard under Agar, and we completely dominated them for most of the match. The improvement was staring you in the face if you watched properly.

And if Ganson hadn't overruled the in goal judge for the Briscoe try, and McKinnon hadn't have clocked off for a couple of seconds, we'd be talking about a 20-0 victory.

| Quote: Edenmain "What was the Moa report for? Looked like a quality hit in the midriff by someone from where I was sat. Martin's high shot was a nothing. Ganson made it a good finish for a pretty terrible Wakey team who made no progress thoughout the game and got beaten 1v1 all over the park. I agree we should have realised after about 20mins that it was going to be close and just kicked those 4 pens when we had chance.
2 in the bag, more experience gained, move onwards and upwards.'"
Think it was because of whinging from Wakey, Ganson didn't seem to see anything wrong with it and still didn't change his mind after consulting the touch judge. The hit was by Ellis IIRC.
McKinnon made it a good finish for them, I thought all but 2 of the calls from that point on were right, and one of the wrong ones was in our favour.

All my family/friends/anyone I speak to about the rugby.... "Wasn't f.c cr4p again" yep, player recruitment barring Mckinnon has been terrible, our squad is wafer thin, and still has no depth!
The best signings/players have actually come from agar!
Moa, Whiting, Mckinnon, he blooded Briscoe, O'Meley, fitzgibbon last season, Westerman!
We are certainly missing a Fitzgibbon this season!'"
What an idiot you are. Player recruitment other than Lynch was all Agar. I do agree, though, it was his best forte.
Why don't you start a petition for "Gentle Out"? Then we could get someone to rewrite it for you before you change your mind a week later...

| 12 months ago we lost the same fixture quite comfortably, today for 70 minutes we never looked like conceding a
point until Mckinnons brainstorm, some people on here really need to give their head a wobble!

Spot on again. We were saying today that put Wakey in black & white shirts, & it was like watching Hull of the last few years.
The relief I felt today was not at the result, but the fact of where we are now compared to the last few years.
I feel positive about FC now. Haven't been able to say that for a long time.

No, I agree. I just find it interesting if he fancies himself wider out rather than at loose forward, given that he arrived at the club as a stand off. Would have expected him to prefer being involved more often.
I've actually been banging the 2nd row drum for long time, saying he could be like Chester was for us.

I'll say no more.
