The article mentioned "pitches". i.e. more than one.
Don't forget that, given the proposed location, what would be the cost of security?
If the facilities ever were built, who would be responsible for the running and ongoing maintenance costs?

shhh cod'ead, don't ask for specifics, no details will be entered into, I went into HSBC today and asked them for a £10m loan, they asked to see the business case, income and profit projections and to complete a credit check, I said I was really sorry, but all of that was unnecessary and inconvenient, I paid £2.79 for the markers I used to put it on the wipe board and I need to get the flip chart easel back into the office before anyone notices it's missing, I also asked if it was "'cos I is white" and made sure they knew damdn well that earth was part of the milky way, they didn't even trust my references for a similar business idea we recently completed on Ganemede. Anyway, got to go, got a pastafarian meeting tonight.

A training ground that would cost way over the £2 millions quoted

A flat, grass field is a training ground. £2 millions would nowhere near cover the suggested "extras"

As someone commented in the Allam Daily Wail's comments section: "he should have been co-opted onto the Olympic delivery committee, he would've saved the nation £ billions"

| Quote boulevard clover="boulevard clover"So again why can he put (or give money for) an extension on one rented house but not the other?'"
Because it suits.
Everything, in my opinion, that Mr Allam does of a "philanthropic" nature can be traced back to the Masterplan - that of securing the freehold of the stadium thereby unlocking the way forward to the real returns.
Building this development in East Hull creates goodwill with Rovers fans and East Hull residents alike, and skews the "weight of obligation" a bit further in his corner against the council.
The more of these relatively small projects he funds - this one, the £1M gift-loan, the squash jobbie, the "saving" of Hull City, the schools and medical donations - the more he creates a perceived obligation to the council and the more likely "neutral" citizens are to give him support and push for referendums - they don't know better, and more dangerously, don't really care...
That's why it doesn't matter that this particular piece of ground is council-owned, it's not the crucial bit of ground that is the make or break of his way forward - the KC and lands.
What is starting to worry me a bit is just how much in his pocket - for some unfathomable reason - are the Mail and Blunderside. They are so unimpartial one could be forgiven for thinking they had ulterior motives. The Mail - as a private company, can take whatever angle it wishes - the media throughout the ages has reflected the views of their various benefactors and business interests. Humberside, though, as a publicly financed organisation should be meticulously impartial, and taken to task when they aren't. I think more should be vociferous about this and making noises in the right ears.
Because, make no mistake, the outcome of this will depend not on the rights and wrongs of the cases presented, but which side the media takes. Look at countless General Elections and the relative influences of the Sun and the Mirror. Plus Allam can afford to run a convincing campaign on the case of a referendum, the council can't - they can only present the facts.
