Quote: C for Cuckoo "It's easy to get carried away with youngsters. The step from 18 to 20 is hard for any young lad but for a professional athlete a lot can happen in that time. Balmforth looks the real deal but he isn't there yet.

I think having Houghton but spelling him with Balmforth would be ideal. Lovadua (hopefully), MacNamara and Hookem can cover the position.

It'd have to be a big signing to replace Mint, say Brad Dwyer or Sam Powell. I can't see either of them coming to us which means someone from the NRL. That'll be expensive and a risk and it might mean Denive not getting much time on the pitch.

Pragmatically, Houghton goes round again for me.'"

Houghton isn't even close to been a top hooker

Wouldnt get in at saints ( roby/lussick )
Wouldnt get in at Wigan ( Powell )
Wouldnt get in at wire ( clark/walker )
Wouldnt get in at catalan ( mcilorum )
Wouldnt get in at cas ( mcshane )
Wouldnt get in at rovers ( parcell/litten )
Wouldnt get in at Leeds ( dwyer/Leeming )

It's only until he finally leaves/retires we will realise how average little he brought

Tackling and the odd good kick that's it

Jamie Shaul isn't in the club's OOC list in the HDM. So ... the daily fail can't copy and paste or we've resigned him, or someone else signed him, or he's retiring.

Just an alternative list (of all clubs) which shows Shaul out of contract, without the speculation.

Right. I posted that list in another thread. But as I said he isn't in the list that the Hull Daily Mail posted later on. So ...

3rd choice at Hull too, behind Balmforth who you have watched for 25 minutes right?

Unless we can sign better and a few above are not better than Houghton, both in attack and defence.

He gets another year, but should have pressure from Balmforth and Lovodua, shouldn't be playing 80 minutes.

Quote: Dave K. "That's him alright, we win and Jake or Houghton play well, we don't see him, as soon as Connors misses a tackle he starts a thread.

Houghton has a great game against Catalans, out playing Mcilorum who is appartley better than him, did we see him after the game?

Then once he doesn't have answer he just hides for a while and hope you forget.

Reading his posts, I'm sure he goes to the games or even watches them on TV.

We can all be a bit negative on certain topics, but there has to be some positivity in our performances this season surley, some just can't find it.'"

Our best player by a mile against catalan was Lane or mau

They said Houghton 2 assists which was just laughable.. it was a bit of a brilliance by lane and a barnstorming run by satae

Great players like Lovodua, Carlos, mau, Lane get my respect cause they are our best performing players

Houghton passing a ball from dummy half and us scoring isn't out playing anyone

"A great game" so probably

I can't wait until Lovodua go's to hooker or 3/4 years time when Houghton leaves/retires people would of realised how little Houghton brought to the attack

It's frustrating cause with a decent hooker who could attack makes a huge difference

Powell has not outperformed Houghton this season.
McIlorum is a bog standard defensive hooker, everything you deride Houghton for.
McShane is hopelessly out of form this season.
Litten left because he's not good enough to play in front of Houghton.

So your doubtful if Houghton is better than any of them

And you skipped the rest to obviously 100% agree about the others

Josh Hodgson wasn't "good enough" apparently we kept houghton instead what a decision that turned out eh icon_rolleyes.gif

you trying to say Houghton is better than Hodgson ..... Wow icon_eek.gif icon_lol.gif d040.gif

Hodgson has hardly played in the last couple of years, and fans where highly critical of him when playing for England for hindering our attack due to him wanting to take a couple of steps before releasing the ball, slowing the attack down.

You keep going on about Lovodua, but he's played half a game at hooker all year, yet your comparing him to Houghton? Delusional

Josh Hodgson wasn't "good enough" apparently we kept houghton instead what a decision that turned out eh Lovodua has played one 40 minute spell at hooker, so yes Houghton has been better this season, give it a rest. Hodgson didn’t show what he was capable of until he left the Dobbins for Oz. The training and game time he got there made him the player he became. FC were right to release both him and Litten at the time. Danny was simply better. Age is having an effect but he can still do 80 minutes at a very high level.

Your first mistake was letting Josh Hodgson go, who went on to have a very good career at a higher level. Mistake repeated by allowing Litten to move on, who from what i have seen has come on leaps and bounds at HKR culminating in his selection for England Knights yesterday. Hull FC supporters obviously see more of Danny Houghton than other RL fans and although he has been a good and loyal player over the past decade he is certainly a 'yesterday man'..
